The 4.5m seems like a bargain when compared to what Maynard and Co have been rumoured for...not that I'm saying Celtic would accept 4.5m

8 million wouldn't seem much if he helps us get promoted...still a lot of money though!

I would much rather stick to the low key signings. Hooper/Maynard/JRod would bring the same pressure Leicester had at the start of the season. They spent big, bringing in big players causing everyone to see them as favorites to win the league. Whereas bringing in the likes of Juke would be a good signing but low key. In Cortese and Atkins we trust.

    Hooper? No chance.

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/footba...new-long-term-deal-with-hoops-86908-23641802/

GARY HOOPER has told Celtic he wants to commit his long-term future to the club.
The Parkhead striker has confirmed he is willing to extend his contract after a superb 18 months in the Hoops.
Hooper’s brilliant form since his £2.4million signing from Scunthorpe has alerted England manager Fabio Capello and scouts south of the border.
Newcastle, Sunderland and QPR are tracking him with a view to January bids while Championship sides West Ham, Ipswich Town and Leicester are also understood to be interested.
But Hooper doesn’t want to move back to England and has made it clear he would love to stay.

If he does eventually leave I doubt it will be to some tuppeny halfpenny club like Soton.

A reasonable and informative post, but why the unsolicited insult at the end?

Maybe a tuppeny halfpenny club like Soton could pay him a decent wage?

Sorry lads, twas a test, we have had a few Southampton fans on our board being a pain in the arse so I was seeing if you lads were more tolerant of idiots than we Celtic fans.

    Seems you are dammit.

Ignore my wee bit at the end. <ok>

I think Jordan Rhodes has done enough this season to be worth a major bid. For a Premier League club he'd be on the sidelines, but with Saints he'd be straight in, either on the bench or starting. Plus, he'd be in with a huge chance of being a PL player within 6-7 months.

Rhodes will go to the prem imo, probs for a massively inflated fee aswell.

I honestly think he'd walk into many a Premiership starting XI. Looking at the table right now, from 10th to 20th, and only Bent, Yakubu and Fletcher currently stand out. Everyone else in that group is crying out for a striker (except maybe WBA, who have a couple of decent strikers in Long and Odemwingie, and just need them to start finding their goalscoring boots a bit more).

So are you saying we should just lay down and let the PL sides walk all over us..? I don't. I think we should make our intentions clear to Rhodes. He may consider his future is better served at Saints.

We can make our intentions clear to Rhodes but he will still pick a team who looks good for staying in the Prem next year than one who may or may not be there, unless we pay him more.

Don't think Hudds will let Rhodes go, unless someone offers silly money and that won't be us.
