I still think we have a very good squad

Unfortunately NW was not able to get the best of them. I just feel if Mark Hughes was able to get the best out of these players below and start bringing in a few more new signing, we can do what WBA and Newcastle did last season.

    Paddy Kenny
    Adel Taarabt
    DJ Campbell
    Jay Bothroyd
    Armand Traore
    Joey Barton
    Luke Young
    Heidar Helguson
    Shaun Wright-Phillips
    Federico Macheda
    Anton Ferdinand

Di‑Matteo and Chris Hughton were both sacked and WBA and Newcastle have gone on to do better

3 defenders on your list, one of which is at the African Nations. Betty, HH, DJ not good enough and Adel also away. So only leaves:

    Kenny
    Young
    Ferdinand
    Barton
    SWP
    Mach 1

^^ Let's evaluate these players without the QPR goggles on:

Paddy Kenny (Good keeper, can't work miracles without a half-decent defence)
Adel Taarabt (throws his toys out of the pram, NW is to blame for not getting him to perform to his potential)
DJ Campbell (1 goal, great return for £1.2m)
Jay Bothroyd (2 goals, stunning return for 15 appearances...how he ever got an england cap is mind-boggling)
Armand Traore (played a lot, but is he actually any good?)
Joey Barton (good player, not treated right though by the management)
Luke Young (32 year old, who?)
Heidar Helguson (talk about flogging a dead old horse, and milking it for goals!, however he has still got it, good player)
Shaun Wright-Phillips (get him to perform and you have a fantastic signing)
Federico Macheda (obvious the reason SAF let him go, he is utterly useless!)
Anton Ferdinand (average signing, clings on to the fame coat-tails of his brother's name)

    ---
The only good players above are: Kenny, Taarabt, Barton, SWP

Wish you luck during this transfer window, you need to buy 5 quality players as a minimum, then you have half a chance of survival.

Also, terribly bad luck with Faurlin's injury...your main playmaker out, goals will be harder to come by!

"The only good players above are: Kenny, Taarabt, Barton, SWP"

Traore, Ferdinand and Young are ok as well...

As for Macheda words fail me, "minchione" would come to mind!

Kenny - good keeper, got no major issue with him
Young - in my opinion, he's been the best signing of the season. Very dependable.
Ferdinand - done ok, but would much rather have Samba
Gabbidon - has not been a Premiership player for 3 seasons now, looks worse every game
Traore - will NEVER be a Premiership defender, might do a job on the left wing but as a defender he is a liability. Gives the ball away too much and takes awful risks around the box, touch of a rapist.
Barton - has been excellent in the past for Man City and Newcastle, definitely not seen the best of him at QPR. Hopefully a new manager will sort him out, still a good player.
SWP - another that has failed to show what he's capable of, a few glimpses here and there but still an top player on his day
Taarabt - last few games has done well but think he's on his way, although I reckon we need his invention at the moment.
Helguson - has had a great season but we still need an out and out goalscorer
Bothroyd - looks very lazy whenever he plays, think he's got more quality than Helguson and could do with a run in the team.
Campbell - decent squad player, not good enough to lead the line.
Macheda - don't rate him, living off that goal against Villa 3 years ago, looked better when moved to the left on Saturday

In my opinion we need 2 centre-backs, a left-back, a central midfielder (maybe another to cover Faurlin) and a goalscorer. So, kind of agree with Goldeneye, we need at least 5 players this month

for fooks sake, Macheda - give the boy a chance will you. He is only a QPR because he needs experience and he isn't gonna get that at Man U.
Troare - will come good when we sort out either left midfield OR left back for him.
Anton Ferdinand - one of the best cebtre halves we have had a QPR for years. However that being said, it doesn't say alot of our other central defenders.
Luke Young = a surprisie purchase, but a very good aquisition.
Barton - In his head he is England class, in my opinion similar to Taarabt. Both players have the quality its a matter of whether they have the intelligence to use their talents wisely.
Campbell - has been injured and not hit the form he showed at Blackpool. that said, has he been found out from last year in the top division?
Boothroyd - an enimga. He has talent, he has skill, can hold the ball up really well - but he was signed as an out and out striker - a position he has not played in. Reckon he will come good but just needs an arm round th shoulder rather than a kick up the arse.
HH - been a huge surprise this year and has deserved his new deal.
Kenny - quality goal keeper - but has already been mentioned, needs a solid defence in front of him

    In summary then your situation:

Manager - Fired, wanted Yakubu (who would be a great signing), should accept blame for awful purchases during the summer
Owner - Egomaniac, thinks he is playing football manager, liability despite the purely financial aspect
    Goalkeepers - Fine
    Defence - Leaky, serious concern
Midfield - AT and JB may turn up once in a while, but by and large, with Faurlin also now out, this is serious, 3 players you need
Strikers - Difficult without the service provided by a good playmaker(s) or wingers

    ---

Loopyr, you are clearly deluded since I do have some idea of what I am talking about, maybe not so much about the current form, but the stats dont lie, your team is in trouble and there are definitely factors why, as I have highlighted.

Ninj, I'm not judging Macheda on his 90 minutes so far for us, I'm talking about what I've seen of him at United over the past few seasons. If he was really that good, he would have played a lot more. He went on loan to Sampdoria and scored 1 goal in 16 games. I hope he does come good and produce for us, however, I don't think we're in the position to risk playing a player with potential, I think we need a forward with a good, proven, Premiership record. And I don't mean Campbell with his 1 good season for Blackpool

I agree, all the players in the squad are better than what we've had in the past few seasons but I think most (especially defensively) are not good enough to keep us up.

QPR247 re Macheda: some players settle at clubs and deliver rather than at their own. I think that the boy has talent, and at 20 is stil learning the game. l just think that if he was that pony, than Utd wuld have dumped him. Welbeck did very well last season at Sunderland as did Sturridge at Blton - I just want him to grab the opportunity QPR have presented to him and score the goals to keep us - not too worried about Sampdoria - the last player we had that went there was Danny Dichio and he didn't exactly set the world alight there.

I agree with you Ninj on basically everything you've said on this post. Although regarding Luke Young he could be developed further if he learned how to execute the "overlap" every once in a while. Agree Macheda deserves a chance, Sampadoria didn't treat him well and although it states on wiki etc that he played 14 odd games, several were from the bench. He must have something if Fergie kept him in and around the squad for a year or two, and nobody gets near the first team at united if they aren't up to it.

Ninj/Elnini37, I sincerely hope you're right, I'd love it if he had the same impact as Sturridge did at Bolton. I just haven't seen anything from him to convince me that he's anywhere near as good him. If we had another 10 points on the board then I'd be delighted that he was with us for 6 months, my only concern is that he doesn't deliver and we've risked relegation to give a young United player some first team experience?

I think it's a fair comment that Fergie wouldn't have kept him if he didn't have high hopes for him, I'd love to be completely wrong about the young fella.

Imaz, your knowledge of Sicilian is impressive but if you want to call Macheda a big dumb cock(erel) why not do it in English so the rest of us can appreciate your views?
Give the lad a chance - you may be right, but may be a little early to judge.
    Grazie, Forza R'sss!!!

I still think Clint Hill is an asset and Derry could be too.

I don't think we have a bad defence but we just need to make it stable and get the best out of it. A couple of additions would be good, too.
