im actually baffled though.. i see kids these days out on a field doing all these little flicks and tricks that look amazing but really are pointless. the hours and hours of dedication that takes is very commendable, but just think... if only they put those hours into learning how to dribble which is by far easier to progress in and learn to keep the ball cm's from your feet at all times.. put the hours into technically striking the ball and making it go where you want.. do that and with dedication you have a good chance of realizing your dreams.

i used to have no problem admitting i could barely do 4 - 5 keepy ups.. but i could pass and place a ball anywhere on the pitch i liked without thinking about it. yet all these tricksters around me couldn't do **** all on pitch

Yeah....but you have to remember that Frenchmen hadn't been invented when McGhee scored his goal.

That's not tricks... keepy ups are purely close ball control. I can do over a hundred keepy ups on a good day. But **** all the fancy tricks, I much prefer just running with the ball. However a stepover can do wonders at wrongfooting a defender.

i didnt say it was, i used it as a comparison. i couldn't do something like that which is not used in a game but could do something else that has a bigger impact

i agree, good finish.. on radio they made it sound so simple and easy but the angle was closing down and he had little room to actually chip it over their keeper. he did fantastic considering hes not a usual goal scorer

We need tp stop bigging our players uo because if he keeps scoring goals like that we'll sell him in the summer.

best individual goal i've seen by a Newcastle player in my lifetime i would say. Hopefully he can keep producing moments of magic like this while Ba is away at the ACoN. Then when he comes back hopefully they can form a scary partnership.

Watching that Ben Arfa goal in slow motion is beautiful. You really appreciate every single touch he takes.

Never tire of this. Good old Peter Brackley. Cracking commentator. Should bring him back, and Barry Davies.

not forgetting technical ability wasn't invented as well and training was 10 pints and 40 cigs a day

Call me a stick in the mud but I refuse to try this new fangled training regime.

10 pints and 40 cigs a day hasn't done me any harm thanks to my 5th liver.

Similar to a goal I scored from 40 yards out as a kid. Mine was on the turn from a throw in too. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Have to say the lack of coverage of his goal is a bit disappointing but could be a blessing. Can you imagine if Rooney or Silva had scored that? They would be waxing lyrical.

Great goal, but not our best ever I don't think, Shearer against Everton & Chelsea are amazing strikes.
