...given what happened to us and Sheff Wed being on a high having seen off the Spammers. Or will it make no difference? I'm thinking that I'll take a point right now. Hope we don't see Russell in for Pritchard though I suspect we will. Funny thing momentum!
Don't think it will have a bearing, but I think youre right, we may see Russell in for Pritchard. We can win this one and I'm desperately trying to sort my finances out to see whether I can afford to go or not. Have to say, it's not looking promising at the moment.
And on the general point of being skint, I think the presence of a Wonga advert on the tickets page of the OS ("Need some extra cash for the game?") is a bloody disgrace.
Disgraceful. Although I would guess that it's a website ad (ie. for all the clubs with the same website), not the club's. I've got to get my ticket tomorrow, but it's not as far for me to travel. I hope you do get to go up there, Tweakes I reckon Wendies will be on a high, but last week, I would've taken 2 points from these two matches. Nothing's changed really, though 6 would be great
What makes you think Russell will come back in? After the last two games I agree that Pritchard deserves his place, so I'm just intrigued why you think Powell would change things.
I think flowing football will be shelved for this game Captain B, in favour of getting a result. I really do think we can win this one, but I get the feeling it's not going to be pretty. See they allocated us an eye-watering 5000 places - 800 gone so far, so there'll be plenty of room to stretch out...
I think CP has a real thing for Russell. I could not believe that he brought in two loanees for the Huddersfield game when he didn't have to and i just think when the chips are down he'll go for Russell.
That's what we did against Stevenage Tewkes, change to cater for the opposition - and that most certainly didn't work. Surely as league leaders we should be going into every game confident of beating the opposition? We are good enough to beat them and should damn well try to.
He will start with Russell for sure. The only question is whether Hughes or Pritchard will be on the bench beside Sullivan, Cort, Wagstaff and Clarke. I would always have taken a point from each of the two Sheffield matches, though no harm hoping for more. We have put in some gritty performances lately, but our football hasn't really flowed since we were home to Preston (when they were still looking like potential promotion rivals). We are not the form team in this division. I don't think changing the team had much to do with that defeat. Cort played well enough. The problem was they out-battled our midfield and, in retrospect, I think we now know that was because Stephens was carrying a minor but long-term injury and Jackson and Green are hardly warriors. It wouldn't be a total surprise to me if he played Cort at RB again for this one. That would really get you lot steamed up!
Cort up against Ben Marshall? That would be playing into Wednesday's hands. If Pritchard impressed against Brentford and Fulham, then Powell may well pick him for the trip to Sheffield.
Against Stevenage Chris played Morrow at RB not Cort, I'm quite sure that Chris would never play Cort at RB for obvious reasons. Is Ben Marshall a man mountain then? Can't see any reason not to play Solly unless height is a very big issue which I'm not sure is the case with the Sheffield clubs.
Marshall isn't a mountain, but a real out and out winger. If he isn't playing against a natural RB then you would fancy him to easily have the beating of him. As for Pritchard- I think CP will keep him in. Hollands and semedo will compete, and lines and Pritchard are two similar-ish types.. So hope CP has the bottle to start him.
Didnt we sell 7000+ v Fulham ? I thought somebody on here had said that the FA Cup wasnt important ??!!
"Surely as league leaders we should be going into every game confident of beating the opposition? We are good enough to beat them and should damn well try to." Agree 100%, Captain B, but it's ultimately down to CP and his team selection and particularly his selection and use of substitutes has been very conservative this season - not helped in this respect by that daft new rule, of course. After his apparently splendid showing against Fulham, I'd like nothing more than to see Bradley Pritchard boss the midfield on Saturday, but on the balance of possibilities, I just can't see it happening. Hope I'm proved wrong.
Agree with concept of us being better than them - after saturdays performance, i cant imagine a better footballing team in L1, however, imagine that CP might be a bit concerned re Semedo v Pritchard - probably be looking for a bit more experience.
Semedo was always a very tidy winner and giver, can't remember us saying that other teams must worry about him last season. I think in Hollands and Pritchard we would have enough to keep the Wednesday midfield busy.
You seem to be obsessed with me not liking the FA cup. I'm sorry you feel that way, but I said it before and I'll say it again, sheff weds is more important. And I think we took 7k as it was a prem team. Had we been drawn against mk dons or Doncaster away, we would have taken a fraction of that, and you yourself would still be waiting to watch your first game of the season.
Sorry to say this but i cannot see us beating Sheff Wed on Saturday.I would be well happy with a draw.
I think we can win.. it will be tough no doubt, but at the Valley if we had just kept it on the deck we would have torn them apart. You'd like to think we won't make the same mistake twice.
