Redknapp's going to get a lot of stick again, today. He deserves it this time. According to him, Ba's release clause is less than £7m. Ba for £5m?
If Ba's release clause really is £5m then we'd be stupid not to make an offer. Judging from his time with West Ham and Newcastle, I think he'd really fit into our team. The chances he'd get created for him would put him in his element. Though I'd be extremely surprised if Newcastle put that in his contract, granted maybe even they didn't expect his form to be this good but even so, £5m for a Prem striker seems far too cheap.
Karren Brady had this to say in her column: "I've taken a number of calls from clubs asking for a reference on Demba Ba, the player who couldn't pass a medical but has scored 14 goals in 17 games. You'll remember Demba, the one who walked out on West Ham to join Newcastle? Before he walked, we were discussing a new deal and his agents wanted a buy-out clause. We never got that far. I often wonder if he managed to get that in his Newcastle deal. If he did, I hope Demba shows them more loyalty than he did to David Sullivan, who took a chance on him in the first place." Presumably the clubs in question went on to talk with Ba's agent, as the clause now appears to be common knowledge. Redknapp's the first to put any kind of value on it though, as far as I know.
If we were interested in Ba why would Harry be so outspoken on the subject and alert other clubs to this 'clause' personally can't see anything happening with him until the end of the season
Does Harry know this as fact ( ie someone told him when he enquired) or is he taking a real guess and hoping he hits a nerve with someone ( Brady seems really p---ed off about this).
Just saw this on the Beeb gossip section, can't believe they allowed this to be printed as a story. More about Samba than the title suggests. http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/886729...s-as-alternative-to-chris-samba#ixzz1isTwHGsW
Not seen the interview but the only quotes I've seen of his are "I think you will find it is a lot less than that" and "even less than that" so I'm not convinced. If he has been hinting at the price of Ba's release clause then he is a bit of a twat.
It is a bit odd to include a clause in a contract and then complain about somebody using it, isn't it? I don't think that it's too hard to see why a club's best players would want to move on if they're relegated, either.
Just seen that. Why do they say he's trying to resurrect his international career, doesn't he start anymore?
He lost his place for the play-off games against Turkey, due to injury. If he gets a decent number of games for us, then I can't see it being a problem.
Made some blinding passes though looked f*cked at 80 mins. Tried chasing back at one point, I was sitting in East Stand row 3 (usually a Park Lane lad but the Cheltenham lot had my usual block) and saw his face, was pretty funny to be honest, was huffing and puffing and had the "For f*ck sake I'm giving up in a sec!" look. Livermore was MOTM for me though, played at right back yet bombed forward in a Walker-esque style and also helped out Niko and Pienaar in the centre of midfield. Brilliant performance.
Hardly a dead international career then. It was in the Sun though, I suppose. To be honest I'd rather we sold him but I suspect he's just opting to avoid unsettling himself so close to the Euros and if he has a good time in Poland then he'll get a good move in time for next season.
With his injuries and lack of game time that don't surprise me. How did Pienaar play? I am pretty sure Niko and him are both better suited to playing centrally rather then on the wing
