well there you go.. i am offended by it.. but just because u are not offended doesnt mean to say others are.

the whole construct of the word forms around race.. which is a collective group of people.

also like the other person said. we have less stigma attached. history has shown through various figures that the only thing whites have been labeled with is a sense of being a "superior" race.

Can't we all just get along?

It's only racist if you believe what you're saying.

Takes allsorts mate. I could never ever be offended by someone pointing out what I am. English and white. You could be and thats fine too. Everyone is different and I think the main problem is when people start asserting their view on the subject is correct. My own personal view is there are things I would definetly see as racist, such as someone saying "I'm not giving you a job because you're black" and then there are a whole host of other things that have been chucked in with clearly racist comments which has resulted in the term racism becoming diluted and the issue overcomplicated.

I couldn't possibly say whether I'd be offended by it if white people had been oppressed and the word white had a stigma attached to it. I don't know, I've never been in that situation and never will be. But I suspect not but that is because I have very loose views on this kind of thing because of the complexity and the different way it is viewed all round the world. I have no definite view on what is right and wrong, preferring just to respect the law of whichever country I'm in.

Any article that starts with "I'm not rascist, but..." is always going to be interesting.

cannot believe people like this existed and probably still exist to this day

    http://wethepeopleusa.tripod.com/id5.html

it annoys me how this is what racism is.. and yet people in this world actually want to be racist and choose to be...

i do think it mainly comes to lack of brain cells... just like when you hear about bnp members quoting churchill one day.. dressing up as nazis the next.

some people are so clueless to their own idiocy

If you ask me I'd rather have some colour than be a cueball bonce anyway. White people look like a boiled egg with a face drawn on them.

I don't think it's the question of what defines racism but double standards.
Don't wanna get controversial but if I was called an idiot whitey could I report it to the police? What about if I called someone an idiot blacky, could I be arrested?

That's all I'm going to say.

You say that, but I think you could according to the letter of the law actually. Strictly speaking that's a racially-motivated public order offence.

Churchill was a racist and a fascist though. It's only because he got us through the war that he's considered a hero.

I don't care about racism, what is... what isn't.

I have learned if a gang of drunken idiots (who are white) jump a black lad and kill him, it's news worthy for 20 years but if a disabled white man wonders into a bar with the wrong color skin (trying to raise money for charity) and has iron stools bashed over his head leaving him to suffer for 6 months before my Aunt Shela decides she has to let him go and pull the plug, This is not only not news worthy but not even case worthy!

The way I see it is I don't dislike people of any other races I have a multi-national/race family, I have a very large family. But if someone targeted me for being Caucasian/Christian then it would be a bad scene.

It isn't a skin colour thing, it is a race thing - the reason they go on the way they do is that people of a certain heritage were persecuted for years and now they're going too far the other way to make up for it.

agreed, but English have been persecuted by Romans/Nordic/Arab regimes and yet we don't often go out and do these deeds nor do get off scott free if we do... If your white, black, chinese or from helsinki... if you do something evil you should be punished all the same.
