I personally don't have any problem with them owning two teams so long as they are independent from each other and each have the freedom to compete against the other. As time passes it's clear that's not the case and I personally feel that it's against the spirit of the sport. Thankfully though, they don't field 4 identical cars... otherwise we really would have a totally skewed title race.

I hear ya, Migs... I think that I struggle with it a little bit though. It's a smart thing to do to look for your next great driver, especially when you may lose Vettel to Ferrari within a couple of years, I'm just not sure if having a team in F1 who's goal is to just source talent is the best thing for the sport or is really in the spirit of the sport. To me, it should be about building cars and trying to win races, not evaluating drivers.

I dunno, I think Ricciardo would be more of a match for Vettel than Webber, and Vergne doesn't look to be a slouch either. If the RBR is all conquering again havign 4 of them wouldn't be so bad.

Maybe the smart thing for Red Bull to do would be to drop Webber and use the second car for the young guns?

I think it's a reference to 'the Helmut': Marko.

Back to Alguersuari for a second, I don't understand why Ricciardo and Vergne are so hyped up compared to him. After all Alguersuari won the British F3 title in 2008, which is what they won in 2009 and 2010, respectively. And lets not forget the huge pressure Alguersuari was under when he entered F1. The national newspapers said he was a danger and shouldn't be racing (because of his lack of testing), so to bounce back from that was great. I certainly think he deserves a seat.

Joe Saward made the very good point that 'If Helmut Marko had been running schemes earlier in F1, there would have been no Nigel Mansell and no Damon Hill and no Mark Webber… as it seems that drivers can only be winners if they are ready at a wildly young age.'

tbh I personally don't rate any of those drivers mention by Saward as greats at all, great championship winning cars yes, but great drivers? not sure about that one. From a personal perspective I'd rather see young guns rotated until we see a driver we KNOW has it. Prost, Senna, Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton & Vettel you could see from the start were gonna be a bit special. How many seats are taken up by people who don't really deserve to be there at all?
