This explains why the Chelsea fans got so annoyed when I suggested that for the first 90 years of their history they were 'vying with West Ham' for the third best side in London. It is true though.....
PS West Ham are in danger of no longer being London's fourth biggest club. Fulham have finished above them for a few years in a row now, plus they reached the EL final a few years back, compared to the absolute embarrassment of the Hammer's recent European achievements.
West Ham are still calling the Europa League the UEFA Cup and enquiring whether the Johnstone's Paint trophy would qualify for the Cup Winner's Cup.
