Apologies if this has already been posted...

but seriously whats it going to take for him to be dropped...each game he is getting worse, giving the ball away more and more...clueless runs....I have never been a fan of Ameobi (even tho he is proving me wrong this season) but i found my self on saturday begging for Ameobi to come on...I was in Shearers bar watching the match and the whole bar were slating Obertan and the ironic cheer when he come off...

Pardew has done really well this season...but when it comes to Obertan i think he has to put his hands up and say 'aye a dropped a bollock'

Obertan has pace, trickery and ability.

He doesn't have a left foot, confidence or the inclination to put in an early cross...

I'm not, nor have I ever been a fan of his but cheering him coming off won't help anything!

If I were Pardew I'd cut my losses FOR NOW, play Ben Arfa ahead of him, and when we need rotation through fatigue or injuries tell him 'you've got nothing to lose, go and prove something' - also, tell him to cross, no matter what....Beating a man 3 times does nothing, putting a dangerous ball into the box, even if the striker can't get on the end of it, shows you have ability and goals WILL come!

I think he'd be alright if he just got his head up and looked for an early ball in. Its his dawdling on the ball resulting in a missed opportunity which is so infuriating.

To be honest, I'm not fussed about whether or not Obertan plays. I'm more fussed about the shocking behaviour towards him from sections of our support. Booing a player on your own team is the lowest of the low, I hope it never happens again and that Obertan knows that there are a hell of a lot of fans that are supporting him outside of the idiots that are jeering.

I still have patience with Obertan and think that he should still be played when possible.

Don't forget that he was played so sparingly at Man Utd over 2 years that he's never really had the time on the pitch to adapt to the English game so the match time he's accruing now is his time to learn the game and improve.

Blanc said the move to Man Utd from Bordeaux came too early and it surprised him that he left because Obertan was a confidence player yet left to play in a team where he’d rarely get a start. Obertan was only 19 then as well.

He’s still just 22 and is now at the stage in his career where he has to have the time on the pitch.

It may not be this season that his talent comes to fruition but if we don’t play him now; it certainly won’t be next season either.

The guy has the ability. He deserves a chance to show it and I’ve seen glimpses of what he can become.

We shouldnt have to wait, he should be giving messi a challenge for the greatest player in the world already.

The funniest thing is Obertan can cross, and cross well. In his all-too-brief good spell at Man U, he was getting a few more in. Interestingly, they played him at Left Wing... He still needs to work on that part of his game though. If he crossed early (like Simpson and Ryan Taylor), he'd be a real weapon for us.

Totally agree with this. People are on his back the very second he gets the ball. It's certainly not going to help his confidence at all.

Over 90 minutes his contribution to the team is minimal and so consequently we basically play with 10 men. He plays because Pardew sees something in him that thousands dont. I personally feel he `s played because Pardew doesnt want to be seen as having wasted 3 million. He`s a bench player nothing more.

He is abysmal. The worst player to wear the shirt.

I would honestly rather play Perch at RM.

The curious case of Obertan. To be honest, I can see him becoming one of our best players in time HOWEVER we really don't have time to play with. We have seen glimpses of his quality. He can easily beat a player and he can deliver a wicked cross. He lacks a lot of confidence though. Get the confidence issues out the way and we have a bargain. If not, ship him out. Give him at least a season though

Didn't like the fact we bought him, never thought he was any good and he has did nothing to change my mind. I will support him when he is on the pitch though as well as not jeering or booing him. I hope he can change my mind in time.

Makes me laugh how quickly some people have decided to hate him though.

I'll be honest. I have tried since he signed to have faith. However I have come to the conclusion the lad is pretty much gash. He'll still get my support whilst in B&W but if I was Pardew I'd be looking for a new right sided option yesterday.

The only way I can see him getting dropped however is if he touches one of the youth players in an inappropriate manner. The lack of a footballing brain would worry me. But Pardew seems to determined to make it work. He sees him in closer quarters so maybe there is something to work with. As long as its not an ego thing where he can't admit he's made a mistake.

The pair of them are ****e but what can you do while they're in black and white accept try and help them! Shola must be one hell of a trainer. Or he has a cloaking device and a mind control device. The cloaking device so he can disappear when a manager is surveying his squad strengths and weakenesses on the training pitch, and the mind control device that ensures he receives a new contract until he is 60.

I cannot believe a lad with so little ability has clung on for so long. The thing is he was not always this bad. He looked useful at various stages in the past but just became a statue after Roeder/Souness made him play through that hip injury. That is my one source of sympathy with him. And his mackem killings of course.

Ameobi is a master of blackmail. Must be. It's the only logical conclusion I can come up with.

Obertan's showed in places what he can do, it's a pivotal point in his career where he needs to sort his footballing brain out.

I agree though that he's fast becoming a massive scapegoat for the crowd, even if he is an indiot it's not fair.
