Watching Nasri play for City I can't help but feel pleased that we sold him, I mean, forget the hype of that 1 half of a good season he had for us, he went off the boil massively after that.

His style slows the game down massively and for all his dribbling ability I've never seen him go on a mazey run for City, he looks like Arteta on a bad day !!!

For what they spent on him I would expect him to be beating people all the time, not slowing the game down to walking pace and then playing the most basic passes ever seen since David Batty played football.

Either City don't know how to get the best out of him or he thinks he is such a good player that he can get away with doing the bare minimum.

Looks like Le Prof suckered City into paying £25m for a muppet :emoticon-0102-bigsm

You can say what you like about wenger, but one thing you can't deny is that he always gets a good deal for players, with the exception of cesc, but his hands were tied to an extent with cesc, and we still made a huge profit on him. I said at the time the nasri deal was superb, getting 25 million of a player with 1 year left on his contract who was not that good anyway. The thing with nasri was that he had potential to be great, under the guidance of wenger, city just don't and won't take the time to develop a player, if he is not a hit quickly he will be out the door as the next 25 million pound man walks through the door to replace him.

When Nasri was sold I was pleased because like you I had observed that his dithering style held play up especially in counter-attacks. Even in the dying minutes of games we were chasing, where even most languid of players suddenly wake up, Nasri was resolute in his maddening meanderings.

His body language at City is rather likes Torres's at Chelsea - that of someone struggling to fit in, not quite belonging, or feeling that they are amongst their betters/equals and no longer being the big fish in the small pond.

forget him - just another media-acclaimed superstar going to 'win things' but quite happy with megabucks and a bench-seat.
    well rid.

He got a lot of assists in the first few games he played and looked to fit into the City team seamlessly but when you think about it, even Denilson would notch up a few assists in a team that has Aguero and Dzeko knocking them in for fun.

    Agree, well rid.

Do you think we would've got £25m for him if we sold him early in the transfer window ? Not meaning to sound greedy but maybe we could've got a bidding war going on between City and Utd and got even more for him, if we had announced he was on the market.

I think we were right to try and keep him, he was much better in our team than he is in city's. I still think we need to replace one of either him or fabregas. Arteta is a solid signing, albeit a short term option. I'd like to see us use some of nasri and fabregas cash to buy either Goetze or hazard.

We definitely need players who can beat players, having to pass around players all the time doesn't help us, we miss Eboue for this too.

Nasri might not be having the best time at city but he is still a world class player and i am still disappointed that we sold him because i think that we would be in a stronger league position if we had him in our team. Because without a doubt he is better than ramsey and arteta regardless of what anyone says. He was great player for us and labelling him as a player who only had a good half season for us is stupid because he was highly influential in his time with us, but don't get me wrong i'm happy that he is struggling at city right now, but on the other side of that argument he is in a team that is top of the league whereas we are in 5th place.

Piskie & Hothead - precisely right.
Wenger was right to try - but I was convinced he would go.
Now we must buy big - but wisely - creative influence going forward - if necessary find £30m.....

Until Danny Welbeck's goal, which was kindly assistet by Na$ri, I didn't even realise he was on the pitch.

That's how bad he was. Second half he was a bit more active, but City started to play then.
Being subbed off for Hargreaves to get a goal tells you the whole story.

£25m was a good value to get rid off him considering he only had a year remaining on his contract.
He is great when the team is in form, but when it doesn't go well for the team he is completely anonymous and invisible.

Arteta>Nasri. We got the good end of that deal, at least Arteta can be bothered to work for the team.

Was baffled to how he was worth £26m or whatever it was, almost or just as bad as Downing for £20m. Good bit of business for you guys. <ok>

I think it was a bad bit of business for City, but not so sure it was good for us. I'd have kept him, he's a quality player and he added a lot to our team. We may have got £24m for him, but until we use that to buy another creative midfielder, then he's still a loss for us.

Na although I cant stand Nasri as a person Wenger knew how to get the best out of him as a player. If we had of kept him he would have continued to get better.

At Marseille he was well known for being inconsistant.
