Where was he today? Injured? Dropped? Ineligible?

Not good enough I would say?

I can't wait till Wickham and Campbell are fit.

He's trying hard, to be fair. But I haven't seen anything to justify his lofty opinion of himself...

He was injured. I think you are being a little unfair to him. He has not been all bad. We have had far worse strikers IMO.

    Totally this...

Bendtner was injured...Sess was hardly a world beater striker in this game, and who knows how Bendtner would have done if he had played in this one..

Bendtner would have played exactly the same way as he has played since about game 5, poorly. He is not interested in us and sees himself as a CF in a CL side, it's just a pity his confidence doesn't show on the pitch as much as it does off it.
To be fair however in the first half not one Sunderland player filled me with confidence, misplaced passes, hoof ball to the smallest player on the pitch especially from Bardsley. Sess had an off day as well which looked worse because of the rest of the team not playing well, all immaterial now as we are through but, we will have to play a lot better than that when we play Boro. Maybe we'll have a couple of new signings for that game and hopefully one of them is a CF who can actually score goals.

Martin O'Neill in a pre match conference said "I hope it's a good game but I'll forgo that to be in the draw for the 4th round" - It wasn't a sparkling game but we never lookeed like conceding a goal and after half time the lads stepped up and did what they had to.

As for bendtner - His first few games he really did look excellent - I said to my Dad after the Villa game that we should get him signed - but since O'Neill took over I think he is the only player who hasn't upped his game - looks totally disinterested and doesn't look like scoring - as a striker he should be in the box trying to get on the end of a header - not on the wing putting the crosses in - we have wingers who can do that (god how long is it since we could actually say that without laughing at ourselves afterwards!!)

I thought we missed Bendtner yesterday. He is actually quite good at holding the ball up and setting up attacks. Yes he needs to get in the box more as we do have two wingers who can put in excellent crosses. However against Wigan Bendtner did brilliantly for Sess's goal. I'd put Gardner back to right back, we look a better team.

We missed him in the 1st half, a little bit less so in the 2nd. The lad got 2 assists against Wigan, so he isnt a bad player. Not the goal scorer, but is good at holding up the ball and putting the ball across for the others.

And yes, he was injured for the Cup game.

Agree... He is a far better footballer than some of the CF's I've seen in Sunderland shirt. I also think he is a safer bet than the likes of Ji at the moment.
