    Take a bow, son!

Cattermole has been great since MON took charge and he carried on his great form today. How good was he in the second half? Fantastic!

I'll admit I was one of his critics and my main problem was he gave the ball away far too often with silly passes. Now almost all of his passes are completed!

    Well done Catts!<party>

agreed mate, I wasn't exactly his biggest fan, but credit where it's due, he looks like a man on a mission now.

Awesome today, the only blip was the yellow card which was unnecessary. There is so much competition in that midfield now and they all seem to be pushing one another which is what we need. Vaughan and Catts are the no.1 pair but we can play a 3 in their with Gardener or Larsson etc.. the options available to us are fantastic and we can always replace Catts and Vaughan with Meyler and Colback who are by no means a weak 2nd string.

I have got a feeling Catts wants to lift that FA Cup!!!!

He was outstanding today - amazing work ethic, must of ran miles, yet his tackling and attitude was spot on. Our defence is actually really quite good, got lots of options there. Killgallon has played well given his chance, Wes won't be straight back in I think.

He was excellent, but the old problem of not staying on his feet surfaced with the yellow card. But he's looking a real force again, which is good news all round.

When we signed him, we were all surprised at how good a footballer we thought he was.

Then he got injured and went a bit ****, maybe went a bit stale at the club with the mediocrity.

MON´s come in and the lad looks totally reinvigorated, consistent, and a proper captain.

Long may it continue, we done Catts, you´ve won me back kidda.

My sentiments exactly Sid, it has been very noticeable that since the arrival of MoN, Cattermole has become a player who thinks before he now dives in. It just goes to show that you can stay on your feet and do the job. I hope that yesterdays yellow was just a blip, and that he can continue to move forward.

I was sure the arrival of MON would see him lose the captancy and maybe sold on, thats why I sit on not606 and dont get near the team.

Got to admit I thought he should have had the armband took off him to free him up a bit to play football and, not worry too much about organizing the team on the pitch. His yellow card was a bit harsh and, he got it because it was Lee Cattermole any other Sunderland player made that tackle and it would have been a quick ticking off. Thought the ref had a decent game mind even with the Catts booking, just seen the Kompany "tackle" and if that was a straight red then we may as well stop playing football not sure it was even a yellow.
Another good game from Catts lets hope he does keep that level up and keeps a cool head in the next few games, especially against Boro at the end of the month.

The Peterborough Centre Half (with the bandage on his head) - had to commit 3 tackles from behind to get a yellow card - and we only got a free-kick for one of them - we got nothing from the ref all afternoon - he was terrible.

Disagree about the Kompany tackle talc - you go in 2 footed you always run the risk and that's exactly what he did - he may have got the ball and missed the player but he went with all of his studs showing and, had Nani stood his ground instead of jumping over him, we'd probably be discussing an injury for him now... THAT SAID - I think the rules and refs are trying to do away with tackling completely and things have changes so much since I played pub football - Had Cattermole made that challenge I think a lot of people (non Sunderland fans) would see it very differently to the fact that Kompany had made it

Fair point about Catts mate. Kompanys tackle was against Nani and if you breathe heavy on him he falls over waving his arms and imaginary cards, he didn't react it was Rooney who got to the ref and in my opinion Rooney who got Kompany sent off. How many two footed tackles do we see week in week out that don't even get a talking too? it's all about consistency which is sadly lacking from the refs now.

The ref was appalling in the 2nd half. Catts was a soft yellow, but he didnt give anything to the player who climbed over Mcclean and elbowed him in the side of the face. Both were a yellow or neither were.

He didn't even give a free-kick for the incident with McClean, if memory serves.

I think that sentiment (and Catts fitness and willingness to work) was shown in about the 75th or 80th minute where he got forward to try to get on the end of a cross in their box and the ball went to the keeper - it cam back out pretty quick and up to the halfway line and he was back there snapping at the Peterborough players - he never stopped running for the entire gamer and was easily MOTM for me - ITV are blinkered and you have to have a hand in goals to win MOTM obviously!! Fantastic attitude and fitness as well - very very impressed with him... I don't hear many people saying "Get rid" any more!

    This^^

Also that lad with the bandage on went through the back of McClean 3 times and we only got one free kick for all 3!! Martin Atkinson is a ****e ref anyway to be fair
