According to my mate who is a Town season ticket holder, the Binners are trying to sign Wilbrahams in this window ? Could be a smart piece of buisiness for us though ?
I posted a thread about it this last night - how funny would it be? http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=19898 Look at all the panic in the comment at the bottom!
Would be a great bit of business his not premiership standard, his quite old and we're not getting value for the wages we pay him.
Yep, let him go. He has not featured much this season and is unlikely to do so much more and if we can bring in a better player to fill his boots then so much the better for us Kind of have a little sympathy for him and still struggle to reason why PL got him last season. He hasn't really done anything wrong as such but simply isn't up to the job in the PL, and may never get a chance with the current strikers that are well ahead of him in terms of being picked week in and week out. And lets not forget, he is the right age bracket for PJ to consider
Ideally, we should sell them Wilbs for the exact amount (or more) of the "sell on fee" they will receive from our impending purchase of Rhodes; meaning they have made no profit from getting rid of the best striker outside the Premiership.
I agree, was not ever really sure why we signed him in the first place. I wasn't convinced at his ability in championship tbh. Sell him and get someone else in. Not over sure we have a chance in signing Rhodes. will be too dear for us i think. I would prefer Sharp from doncaster, apparently Nigel Peason of leicester has agreed a fee with doncaster for him of3 million. no personal terms been settled mind. Would be worth 3 mill i think!
Get rid of wilb and break the bank to get some players in I think we can safely gamble on staying in pl now we'le on 25 points
Apparently they have offered Sharp a 3 year deal worth £28k a week in champ, riseing to £40k a week if they get to the prem. Thats not a bad deal, think even we would struggle to match that ?
If we are pretty sure of staying up (which I definately am) why break the bank now when transfer prices are at their peak? Why not wait until the summer? I am not saying don't sign anybody, but I am certainly saying that now is not the time to 'break the bank'. Bring in 3 or 4 now along the lines of the player type we have signed recently and then have a little look in the summer.
Not the best signing Lamberts made I'm sure if we sell him and he ends up going to a club where he'll play football then everyone wins. I think we'll go abroad to get additional forwards we need someone with pace with got too many aerial players.
Memories seem a bit short. As I recall everybody at the time was worried that we only had one target man, Grant Holt, and if he got injured or suspended - he was picking up yellow cards for fun at the time - we had no cover. PL paid a small fee and gave him an 18 month contract as a short term solution to a short term problem.
No! No! No! We must never under any circumstances consider again ' breaking the bank ' no matter how tempting the circumstances may seem. Like many other City fans I will only be confident of staying up when it is mathematically impossible for us to go down.
Doe's start to make you think though, with Colin getting the elbow tonight, just how long will it be before the sharks come circling again, not with QPR, but say Everton or Villa size club ?
My big worry on losing Lambert would be Redknap taking the spurs job. IF they were to come calling it would be impossible to begrudge PL the chance to better himself.
I guess you mean England KF ? No need to panick there then.....when have the FA ever got that job right? Prob offer it to Colin ?
My initial comment about why did PL sign AW was more to do with - why AW and not someone better. Of course there may not have been anyone else available at that time but we do not know that for sure. Again I stress, AW has done nothing wrong but even at that time most were saying why him and not someone else. Anyhoo, if he leaves good luck to him and I hope he can get regular 1st team footy
