<applause> Top of my list too, just a totally unbelievable film. The final showdown is the best scene I have ever had the privilege to watch.

One of the distinguishing factors is that the film was actually made to fit around Ennio Morricone's soundtrack as opposed to the other way round. This leads to a film in which every scene appears meticulously choreographed - the actions of the characters accentuated by falls and crescendos in the music:

"The rhythm of the film was intended to create the sensation of the last gasps that
a person takes just before dying. 'Once Upon A Time In The West' was, from start
to finish, a dance of death."
    - Sergio Leone.

As obvious fans of Western films what do you reckon to Tombstone ? Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday is brilliant and apparently very true to life.
Wyatt Earp only died in 1929 and quite a lot of celebs of the day attended the funeral - including Al Capone (bit of trivia for you ! )

You know what, I haven't actually seen Tombstone, I've heard more than enough good things about it and had my eye on it for a while but just never got round to it, terrible I know. Going to make a concerted effort to find it and watch it now.

I love loads of Westerns, used to sit and watch them with my Dad when they were on BBC and Ch4 in the middle of the day. Spaghetti Westerns are my favourite (or I should say Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns are my favourites) but there are plenty more old and new that I adore. Love how two of my favourite genres - Western and Sci-Fi - have made revivals in recent years.

Once Upon a Time in the West
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
    A Fistful of Dollars
    For a Few Dollars More
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
    The Wild Bunch
True Grit (both versions, but the Coens' is superior)
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
3:10 to Yuma (only the remake, the original is mediocre)
    The Searchers
    High Plains Drifter
    The Proposition
Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia
    The Magnificent Seven
    Unforgiven
    High Noon
    The Outlaw Josey Wales
    Hang 'Em High
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
Deadwood (I know it doesn't count because it's a TV show but whatever)

They're all I can think of off the top of my head, I've probably missed a few obvious ones.

Tombstone definitely worth searching for if thats your genre. Thats a good list you've put together there - I do like the Coens True Grit and 3.10 to Yuma.
An older western I have a soft spot for is the Gregory Peck one - McKennas Gold - just a bit different from the run of the mill stuff....

Reservoir Dogs start at on C5. Watching it as but picture quality looks really poor.

"Toby? Toby Wong. Toby Wong? Toby Wong. Toby Chung? ****ing Charlie Chan. I got Madonna's big dick coming out of my left ear, and Toby the Jap... I don't know what - comin' out of my right."

    The Thin Red Line
    Shawshank Redemption
    The Hangover
    A Bridge too far
    Catch me if you can
    Inception

Ones I enjoyed doubt many would have them as the greatest of all time though.

Tombstone is a great western and like you say Val Kilmer is class as Doc Halliday <ok>

I'd add Open Range as a western to watch if you haven't seen it. Robert Duvall is amazing and the pace of the film is spot on.

Watched the kings speech last night and it is well worth a watch. Firth was sublime.
