He was class for scunny and is class for Celtic. One of their best since Larsson I reckon.

No, rubbish. SPL Standard at very best.
He doesn't have an excellent touch, he isn't very strong and he can't link up for ****.

who is claiming it is better than the epl or the championship? you however have chosen to make a statement about something you know **** all about. Jos hooiveld could not get a game for celtic, yet starts every week. does this make the spl better than the championship?

All that really says is that you don't know a good player when you see one. Hooiveld is more than capable of SPL footy.

you miss my point, i have no doubt that he could have been a decent defender had he been given a run of games, i was simply trying to point out that you should avoid making sweeping statements about something you know **** all about.

for example kelvin davies was ****e at sunderland, should i say he will be ****e in the epl if you get there having not seen him since he left there or should i avoid spouting pish as i have no idea if he is any good or not seeing as i have only watched him once this year?

Listen I have nothing against Celtic, I live in Ireland and you're very popular over here and all we ever here about is how much of an animal Gary Hooper is, so of course I was happy as Larry when we were linked with him. I do watch the SPL and many Celtic fans over here would concede that you would struggle in the EPL.

why would he take a step backwards in his career progression!

if he leaves celtic, it would be for an established epl side not one who will yo-yo stright back down!

He's not going to bloody Southampton of all places, they can have Commons for a few mill though since he's not getting in the team.

So is he linked to Southampton or going to Southampton? Not the same thing.

Has anyone had a new argument in the last 5 years how Celtic would fare in the EPL? The football is completely different. Southampton would struggle in the SPL. Probably finish 4th until they could get their head around how to play in the league. I watch lot of football. I know how competitive the Championship is. Most teams have ambitions of beating the other. The SPL isn't like that for Celtic. More often than not, teams play to stop us and hope our failure to deal with a long punt might yield something. That is how we lose.

It is mostly football by numbers. that is hard to play against. The quality isn't as good, but the systems are far more awkward for a team like Celtic.

If you watch the championship then you would see that this year southampton have been immense and all this dissmising of them is stupid.

Didn't say you were but others are. I reckon southampton would well put it up to celtic and rangers in the spl.

And I reckon you'd get a shed load of 0-0's and 1-1's against Motherwell, Aberdeen et al.

How the hell anyone could know how Southampton could perform against Celtic is beyond belief.
Southampton is even trying to buy Commons who cannot even make our first squad.
Celtic have not been tested against Championship sides but throughout the past fifty years when we have
come across leading EPL teams we have more than held our own.
I can't think of any reason why Celtic should want to pit themselves against Championship minnows, Can you?

We are top of the championship so that is hardly minnows and the championship is a COMPETITIVE league not just the same 2 horse race between 2 mediocre sides.

I can understand Man U/City, Chelsea, Arsenal abd even Spurs/Liverpool fans arrogance on how great their league is, however, Southampton fans <doh>

I can't wait to see that team hosed week in week out in the EPL!

Stoke v Southampton - yeah, the football purists will be rushing to see that game!

If you watched the championship you would know that southampton play a flowing passing game. Celtic on the other hand play in a dire style and can only relish games against one team.

Hmm, personally I would love to see Celtic and Rangers play in the EPL. Comparing the SPL to the EPL or Championship is utterly pointless. The OF carry massive support worldwide. Their Achilles heel sadly is the SPL which is just not competitive enough. Just imagine a league that pits Celtic against Liverpool and Rangers against Man U. And on equal terms too as both OF clubs would have more money.
