on his interview with solent nigel says nothing will materialise with commons and has downright denied any interest in delfonso
After watching the Adkins interview on Saints Player, he seems very confident that we are going to improve the squad. He commented "As you can see from my eyes, we are doing everything we can to get the right players in". He also said, "We are looking to get two players in, or even more. They may be a small loan signing or one might be a major signing." Looks and sounds promising.
Celtic have rejected a bid from Southampton for striker Gary Hooper. (Sunday Mail) Hope this is true because at least it indicates we are still looking for another striker.
You can lead a horse to water etc. We probably have our eye on a few players. Let's just hope they tell us on the OS before the player runs out on the pitch!
Probably a bit of a long shot but I see Giovanni Dos Santos is available in this window. He has had a previous loan spell in the championship with Ipswich would he be someone we could be interested in? His talent is not in question but Redknapp does indicate he is not the best of trainers. It does say he would like to go back to Spain and a transfer would not come cheap but I think the possibility of a quick return to prove himself in the Premiership might be appealing to him as he was never really given a chance with Spurs. He is still only 22 and a few years ago did seem to have the world at his feet when he was getting in the Bacelona side. I for one remember being a little surprised when Barca allowed him to leave.
It says we would need to bid at least 4.5 million to stand a chance of bringing Hooper to St Marys...
I agree but I can't see them letting him go in this window, whether its true, I guess it depends how much Adkins wants him..
Hooper would be perfect alongside Lambert (I've been banging on about him since this forum opened). However, think we'd have to go in with a bid of £6m+ for Celtic to sell, unless he puts them under pressure to sell him (which seems unlikely)
Not sure I believe this story tbh, Daily Record is known for being wrong the majority of the time and this article doesn't have any direct quotes. Could just be them thinking "teams must want Hooper, who can we link him to? Southampton are doing well plus their manager used to manage him and they seem to be looking for a striker. That'll do" Would be delighted if it was true though
Apparently we had a £4.5m bid for Jay Rod accepted in the summer but he wanted stupid wages so we laughed him out the building!
