Another west upper- wahey! Welcome mate The lads seem in good spirits on twitter. by the sounds of it, if we play like today we should get a result next week. Massively looking forward to it.
As a season ticket holder at Fulham I would agree the fans were quiet today, but the reason for that is (and I mean no offence by this) the FA cup games against lower teams attract tourists, most of the people there today in the Fulham section were not the regulars. The fans are much louder in games they care about. Charltons fans were good value though, thought the bit at the end where the fans and players stayed on showed a bit of class.
Was at the game, and firstly unfair scoreline for you guys. There were moments where you had our 1st 11 struggling. Secondly your fans did outsing ours, but it wasn't the sort of game that would attract much interest from our end, whereas a london FA cup tie for you is a big thing (not trying to be disrespecful). There was abit of noise down the fulham end towards the game, but one problem with the cottage is the acoustics are crap, you cant really hear us and we can hear you nowhere nearly as loudly as you might think. Lastly, what was with the brawling down your end? I missed the first goa as I was too intent on watching a melee by the cottage!
Posted an article some days ago,in the next "10days post", in which i was castigated by a couple of our 606 postees re: Fulhams fickle fans, well take away the 7,000 Charlton supporters and we mustered what 14,000.so where was our other 8,000 or so " I will support you through thick or thin followers ". I therefore feel vindicated in what i wrote.
Just read that article valjing, and i do not understand why you are being critisised in the way your are, what you say is completely reasonable. Fulhams support has not kept up with its increased football ability- we have the fan base of a championship side at best. I would say we have 15000 proper fans, fans that would be there next year if we were relagated. With arond 4000 away fans at each game, that leaves us with 6000 tourists/ part time fans, fans that dont come to games like todays. It is true to say that support wise we are near the bottom of the premiership, but to be honest I don't really care about numbers. The only thing that gets to m is, like it was first half against arsenal, chelsea away, norwich away, our support is useless, it is the quietest in the league save for wigan and bolton, and it does not get behind the team.
Hopefully it's a good day then glove- in recent times I've seen us have the most boring 0-0 draw (didn't help I had the missus moaning as it was my valentines present haha), and a 4-1 thumping. Are you working whilst there, or just going to spectate?
Donovan won't ever play here permanently, he's worth more to MLS than he would be to any other team. For example if Everton valued him at £10m (easier for math) he's probably worth £15-20m to the MLS and the Galaxy. He's the most marketable American Footballer, and the MLS knows that. But if he were to manage a permanent deal, I think he'd do well consider his previous loan was a major success and played well until he got subbed off on Wednesday.
anyone see the fans dressed as fatman and superman? - giving jip to other charlton fans about not going to yeovil
To be fair to the Fulham fans, I can remember such FA Cup games at The Valley a few seasons ago, when we were in the Premier League and playing lower division opposition, and we were the same, with many regulars not turning up or not singing very much, as the game meant much more to the opposition. Wasn't there a survey that showed Fulham had the most middle class fanbase of any club? More importantly, I had a walk outside before the game, and where's the Michael Jackson statue?
Its in the west corner of the ground - diagonally opposite to the cottage - i walked past it yesterday (without knowing !)
A lot of people are looking for a detox as well. Too many games over Xmas. Was at the game yesterday and most of the regulars were not there. Good support from Charlton supporters.
