Right lets see where everyone stands on Jermaine Beckford.

Me i think he is a good player but his attitude and effort and nowhere near good enough and i dont think Nigel will put up with it for longer.

If he was willing to try harder and become more of a team player then i would be more then happy for him to stay.

He should be given a chance from the fans.

People were screaming daft things like 'FOR **** SAKE BECKFORD' when Forest had a chance even though the ball hadn't gone anywhere near the lad.

He clearly isn't settled and the quicker we take him under our arm the better.

Unfortunatly we have some mindless fans like one who was trying to rip a chair up after Beckford lost a 50/50 and yet he applauded Gallagher for pussying out of a tackle.

He should be used as an impact sub and prove his worth to Nigel.

I have never given him stick when he is playing and how some fans do treat he is disgusting sometimes but he isnt helping himself

One thing Yak did to win the fans over straight away was he scored quite a few goals early on which help fans accept his style, Beckford hasnt scored goals and doesnt seem contribute much at times

Yak played in a side that created millions of chances per game.

Beckford had one half chance today, Nugent had two glorious ones but we're sat here blaming Beckford.

He needs to listen to Nige and the coaches, be given time to adapt and become a complete striker and change his game, we need to give him patience.

BUT, I do not believe he is that type of player, he seems arrongant and full of himself, I don't believe this will ever happen, Sharp in and Beckford will leave, just a case of when?

Beckford - Please prove me wrong!

Nugent works hard for the team and has scored 8 goals this season

Beckford doesnt work hard and only has 2

Yes the service isnt great but the crosses Gallagher has been putting in the box recently have been world class, David Beckham couldnt of done much better so its not purely down to the service

Thats the one worry i have with him, he wont listen to Nigel. IF he did then i think we would see a dramatic change in fortunes for him but i think his ego gets in the way

The final third needs a lot of work, they need to work hard in training to play together, Beckford needs to fall in behind Nugget when he jumps for the ball? This is is primary school stuff though!

All the midfielders need to work on what service to provide to both strikers and play to their strengths ASAP, but also the strikers need to adapt their all round game, Nugent is very good at the moment, but at times today was trying to do two striking roles due to lack of effort from Beckford, he should be caning Beckford and pushing him also.

The free kicks Gallagher was whipping in against Pompey was brilliant. Gallagher crossing has been good for past few games.

If Nugent is scoring goals with the service then how come Beckford isnt. Sometimes he makes some great runs which arent spotted by some people but after that he doesn't bother making them again because he just thinks he wont be found again. If he showed more effort then i think the critics would get off his back

How many goals has Nugent scored because of a good cross or through ball?
One, the same amount as Beckford.

(Nuge against Burnley, Beckford against Watford)

Nuge runs at the defence and creates his goals that way. We knew what we were goign to get with Beckford. He plays off the last defender and gets his goals with through and over the top balls.

We all knew what we were going to get with him.

The fact he isnt scoring goals at the minute isnt the major problem with him. I can list lots of reason why people are on his back

    He doesnt challenge for headers
    He moans too much
He doesnt chase defenders down enough
He gives away stupid free kicks for no reason
    He doesnt look bothered
He never gets back and helps out the midfield like Nugent does

If he sorted them out and work harder the fans wouldnt be on his back. I think the goals will come but his effort just isnt good enough and anyone who thinks it is needs to watch David Nugent more and stop drooling over 1 or 2 moves that Beckford makes

The thing is that Nugent and players like him will always endear themselves to supporters because of the way they play and the way they work for the greater good of the team. Also, even if Nugent isn't scoring he still offers something to the team whereas Beckford (as silly as it sounds) can only score goals. When he isn't scoring, he offers very little to us and I agree that for now, impact sub is the best place for him because he's still a useful player to bring on against tiring defences - against Pompey for instance, he should have won us a penalty.

However, with Sharp seemingly coming in, it will push him further down the pecking order and I doubt he is happy with the situation as it is. Also we have Waggy to come back and we know he is a player that Nigel rates. I think it's a case of Beckford having to knuckle down now and work hard to prove to Nige that he can re-discover form previously shown in his career. If not? I think we're better off without him.

    I give up.

Your not goign to change your mind.

If he went out and scored today you wouldn't be saying all of this.

How people have changed since we signed him is astonishing. People, despite knowing exactly how he plays the game, thought he was going to be a blackbuster.

I'm sorry, but the real problems lie in our pathetic midfield and wingers.

I can't see any club, in any league, thinking Beckford is worth what you're paying him, so I suspect you're stuck with him.

Its the effort which is the problem, even with Yak people was on his back and he was banging in goals.

Im sure we could find a taker but the only problem we would have would be wages as i suspect Sven put him on stupid wages

That was my point, I think he's probably on double what he's worth and at our place, we know all about trying to shift overpaid players.

    Paul McShane anyone?
