A good win, just a shaky finish why can we not put teams to bed put them in their place We went to sleep at the end of the game.... to the Bradford fans who at least gave the Vic some atmosphere!
Yes not the mark of a good team to allow a team like Bradford back in... especially with 2 sub forwards on and out to prove a point....
I understand picking our most experienced centre backs to help Bond integrate into the first team. But Dicko, Hogg, Yeates and Sordell had nothing riding on this match. Apart from the obvious advantage of cup tying Sordell, I don't see why any of them were picked. That's not to say that any of them didn't play well, but I'd much rather have had players who knew that anything less than an outstanding 90 minutes could equal the end of their first team season.
Job well done boys! Highlights were a good all round team performance and the enthusiasm of the away fans!! Lowlights - Doyley hoiking into row z of the rous when not under pressure and losing concentration for their 2nd goal. Sadly his time is up. Next Round? Some League 2 team so we can put a run together to get the cash. Dyches team selection indicates this is a priority for us (not like last year - Brighton/Gilmartin etc)
Given that we're going to pick our strongest team, I want Stevenage. The way they play and the circumstances surrounding the match will amount to a very stern test, and win or lose the experience should stand us in good stead at the business end of the season.
My connection was too slow to keep up with Yorkie or anyone else, so the whole thing just seized up. Looks like we did what we should and and least did not become a casualty of a giant killer.
I want one Manchester club away. ReykjavÃk to Manchester is a direct flight. Rhis thread is bigger than all the Bradford City threads twice!
Direct flight it may be, but if we do draw the winner of City & Utd. just make sure you have no erupting volcanos that weekend......
Probably not for the first, but i think he wouldn't have fluffed the second quite as much! From where i sat, the foul was on Eustace, and his head didn't stop bleeding for the rest of the first half...the bandage he wore for the second half obviously didn't hinder his headers but i do wish we'd play the ball on the floor more! Why do we always end up playing head tennis..doesn't seem to matter who the team or the manager is! So was i! lol Met Loachy at half time ...he was just ambling through the Rookery, downstairs by the bar...i suspect he was heading for that interview! Really lovely bloke, and seemed happy to talk to anyone..i just said a quick hello, but he stopped and talked to other people...good to see him wander through and not stay out of the way Was great to see Craig Forsyth on the pitch today and proving that he doesn't deserve all the crap that he gets from negative naysayers. The atmosphere outside of the Bradford City end was awful. A few chants made it to the pitch, but there were some very feeble attempts! Shameful...we really are rubbish when it comes to the cup! lol Tomorrow evening, around 6 apparently...not sure of the exact time... All in all, it was good in parts, and worrying at times. Bond was a little shaky, to be honest, though he seemed a little more in command than Loach at times, there were other times he seemed to flap a bit..understandable, but not giving us an advantage to have him between the sticks. At the back, Nosworthy and Mariappa were strong as ever, Doyley seemed rusty sadly, and Dickinson didn't have his best game...sometimes he's just too easily passed. Eustace played very well today, making some superb passes, fab runs and making a goal that was completely outstanding for Forsyth, despite his injury and Hogg was back to his usual Ferrety self, two very good performances, to add to Forsyth who added goals to an already good and steady performance. Good to see him winning headers, making runs and passing well and accurately. Yeates is a little hit and miss at the moment, but had a fairly strong game today, though sometimes i do worry about his corner taking and his crosses. Sordell..hmm..i like him, don't get me wrong..but sometimes i see the ball and where it's going and 5 minutes later he decides to move! It's very frustrating...because then he does something outstanding and you just wish he could put in that level of performance all the time. Deeney deserves every chant, every accolade, he worked so hard today, he wins almost all the headers he goes for, and thank the lord he even managed to score today! He is obviously a fans' favourite for a reason...nobody can fault his effort levels, and very often today, it paid off. I'm not sure if it was my imagination but Iwelumo got applause for winning a header today! lol...he did what he was supposed to do i suppose, but that's because he doesn't seem to be able to give any more than he does. It's a shame, because you can see that he really wants to play hard, he just doesn't seem capable anymore. Garner did okay, he got in the mix a bit and it'd be good to see more of him soon. Dear little Tom lol...i feel very maternal about him...in the 5 minutes he was on he tried really hard, and it was great to see him get some time in the game All in all, a fair result, Bradford tried hard, though a couple of players decided the only way to win was the stop our players wearing their clothes at times! They had a lot of height but didn't seem to use it...but they put up a good fight and deserved their two goals. And one more thing...having quoted Barry about the ref, it was good to see he seemed pretty fair today! Yay!
A solid game but I actually thought Bradford caused us more problems than a lot of Championship sides have in recent games and had an excellent support. It was a bit worrying to see our 2nd choice strikers look so poor...
A very fair summary H. I feel we missed a trick by picking something that so closely resembled our strongest available team. I'd even go as far as to say that we were on a hiding to nothing. If Dyche had picked three or four players he rates but isn't sure whether they're ready yet, to what extent would we have blamed him for the selections had we lost? Sure, there will always be voices of dissent, but giving the youngsters a chance is what we've all been asking for for months.
