I feel like so many people, particularly a few United fans, underestimate what he brings to the team. Almost every United attack starts with Rooney, he's always looking for the ball, at times it's as if he's playing dm just to pick the ball up from the back and start attacks. There's a reason Fergie didn't tell him to **** off after last seasons incident. Rooney IS our most important offensive asset. (Only Vidic is more important in the entire team). He is the only player in a United shirt who can do pretty much everything, score from distance, play as second striker, drop deep and the distribute the ball, play cross field passes accurately, play as a lone striker, finish the easy chances, the list goes on and on. If we didn't have Rooney I sincerely believe we'd be royally ****ed.
I disagree tbh, IMO rooney is a 'second fiddle' player. He plays best with the likes of ronaldo taking the limelight I think most of our attacks break down when rooney gets the ball, his coring from distance hasnt been there regularly for a while, his short passing is often woeful, his croos field ball consists of a left to right hoof which only mainly works if valencia is on the left and please dont make me laugh about the easy chances. If berba or another player had missed the recent ones these forae would be willing to drive the player away I think rooney is becoming a headache for SAF, he cant bench the highest paid player and he is not producing on the pitch. And he cant sell him as no one (maybe city) would IMO pay even £15m for him never mind 60 etc Welbeck and berba should have started against newcastle or rooney should have been subbed first and believe me when I say i was one of the voices saying sign him from everton and was ecstatic when we did
I've got to say I don't understand the Rooney euphoria. Someone in an earlier post summed him up perfectly: "a good player with flashes of brilliances". He is not world class and I can't see who would really want to sign him, other than maybe Man City. If we sell him though I think it sends out the wrong signal. We should be adding to our squad, not selling our better players.
He scored 34 goals playing as a lone striker with the pressure of filling in Ronaldo's shoes, his biggest issue now is that he has to drop way too deep to get the balls because our CM is ****. The only players in our midfield that carry the ball forward are Anderson and Phil Jones, when they're paired with another midfielder whose strengths are passing and keeping possession (cleverly, and Carrick). When he doesn't have to drop back as deep and can exploit the space between the midfield and defense we play our best football.
You're forgetting that whoever first said that probably had no experience with tabloids...they've just linked Spurs with a player and Redknapp doesn't know who he is This. Although that said I would potentially be happy if we can exchange Rooney for a player who would play a similar role in starting attacks and bringing the ball forwards, whilst also giving us money to get a top class DM and getting rid of some of the drama. Tho' a lot of that depends on who the players are of course.
rooney needs top quality players to play off i think he would do well with a strong centre forward to play off, berbatov and chico are to inconsistent and this frustrates rooney in the a last few games himself has been poor by his own standards, anyway i think its irrelevent tbh because all our problems stem from midfield and the goalkeeping situation
The problem is Fergies transfer policy has been "buy young, buy potential" and if Rooney were to be sold he'd most likely grab two young unproven players with potential, which we already have a bunch in our ranks. I'd take Aguero and Yaya Toure in a straight swap!
True, but then he isn't averse to buying experienced players for important positions (Vidic, Carrick, Berb, Hargreaves, Evra). I think he might consider trading Rooney in for a couple of experienced CMs like Khedira and Diarra and a young attacking player with potential like Gotze or Ganso. That might give us a stronger line up than right now, with more axes of attack than just Rooney.
Guys... the guys been playing in midfield or dropping back loads and is 4th top goalscorer in the premier league with 13 goals. He's had one bad game against Newcastle and you think he's "good with flashes of brilliance"?! No, he's ****ing incredible. When he plays how he likes to play, United win.
He's good. He's not world class. World class players light up tournaments. Rooney has never come close. Overhyped, ungrateful little gobshite.
Bale, Modric, Kaboul and VdV have the potential. King would have been but for injuries. To me, Messi, Xavi and Iniesta are world class. Baggio and the Brazilian Ronaldo were world class. Giants of the game. Not some overhyped bindipper with a penchant for the much older lady. He completely lacks class
I dont know any united fans who honestly think rooney has ever been or ever will be in the same class as ronaldo, messi. your a total Lob on About potential at your club, give it a ****ing rest
I agree wiht you he is not world class, but NONE of your players will ever be close to h is top level. VDV is too ****ing old to become any better than he is right now, bale is just a glorified steve mcmanaman and modric will turn out to be as useful as michael ****ing carrick
So you can predict the future can you? And yet you couldn't predict what a moron you'd become otherwise you'd have topped yourself long ago
