Just watched the lads take off from Ponteland Airport 10 mins ago and the good news is that Danny Welbeck is definately on the plane, so he is part of the first team squad again. I hope he isnt rushed back too early but if he is fit again, 15 or 20 mins will do him the world of good and will offer us some much needed options for a plan B and he looked bery relaxed, laughing and joking with Jordan Henderson and Jack Colback. Great to see him back and hopefully it wont be too long before we see Turner and Campbell back there as well. 4 straight defeats has been hard to accept but with liverpool losing at the weekend and the chasing pack faultering a well in recent weeks, we are still in there for a top 6 or 7 finish. Best option tomorrow for me is to attack from the start and chase them down as Birminham did on Sunday. We cant sit back and hope to keep them out for 90 minutes so we may as well have a go. FTM
Good news. If he can recapture form, anything like, before his injury we have a good chance of staying in the top half.
i don't think we'll win, but as when you play all the top teams, if you sit back and hope to hit them on the break, eventually they wear you down. we need to go down there, get stuck in and make them play our game. if we can do it against chelsea, we can do it against arsenal, and with welbeck to come off the bench, we have the players to do it. it's all in the head from here. as long as we go with a good attitude, and play as well as we can, i'll be happy. still, i've been a good omen this season when we've played in london, so here's hoping.
Good lad cest.cheered me up no end, I agree, and I'm sure Bruce will, about not rushing the lad. It's going to be very intresting when we have Welbck, Campbell.Catts, Meyler and Turner back to see who Bruce sees a his first 11.
I am getting a little sick of this Henderson bashing from some Sunderland fans and to be honest its pissing me right off. We have a lad here in only his 2nd season at the club and at 21 years old, is only beginning to make his way on the big stage. He was thrust into battle last season and coped very well but had injuries not been so prolific and high profile this term, would have had the opportunity to be rested not played every single game. I am sure Bruce would love to have the chance to take the heat out of the lads life a bit and help him develop more. When will Sunderland fans just cut lads like Henderson some slack? No wonder players want to piss off and leave us. Bent was the target of certain ****ers in the SAFC crowd before Christmas, who gave him a hard time for not scoring 20 goals in 20 games and he upped and left. In some respects, i dont blame him either. Henderson is a Sunderland lad through and through and loves his home town club but to be honest, I hope he leaves in the Summer for a big money move to Man Utd because for some of the supposed Sunderland fans, he is ****e now all of a sudden and they will be on his back every game. Why have SAFC been so pitiful and piss poor for 40 years? Because some (not all mind) of the supporters deserve **** all else. I post a positive message about Welbeck being back and all of a sudden its abuse Jordan henderson time. Whos next? Gyan? Muntari? Mensah? Why dont we just boo the lot of them and we can get lads like Gareth Hall, Thomas Hauser and Shaun Cunnington back at the club. Makes me ****in' sick and its why I dont post so often these days.
likewise, there are now a few on here who do seem to genuinely support sunderland who i now just ignore, because they can't resist having a go at some of our players, even in threads that have nowt to do with it. i'd rather have big chris, that weird keano lover or proud scouse (remember him??) on here spouting rubbish than have to see genuine mackems have a go at one of our own trying his best. i can't stand it. seems some of us aren't happy unless we're having a go, and now we don't have a daryl murphy or jon stead to do it to, we're having a go at players who we are genuinely lucky to have. it's ****ing stupid.
He's on twitter now and said he trained yesterday and all went well, we defo need another loan deal next season for him he is class.
But its always been that way, sometimes its just opinion that differs and thats fine, we all have opinions but then we have the people who just seem never to be happy. Whatever the club do or the players do in a positive way they will always find the negative. I usually agre with cest but I can remember having some great debates when we have differed. Heated and sticking to our guns but never personal and nasty. Henderson is a player who divides opinion, mind most do to some extent, and I have no problem with anyone who does not rate him. My argument with all the players is the same, if they are giving their all in a Sunderland shirt we must support them.
Got to agree Syd, Cest, you can never please all the people, all of the time. There will always be the knockers amongst us and no matter how well we do, some muppet will always be prepared to put a certain player down. Last season I remember Bardsley getting quite a rough time by certain individuals on the old BBC 606, even Bent wasn't immune to a bit of stick despite getting 26 goals for us, Ferdinand was another. Henderson seems top be bearing the brunt lately but as Cest quite rightly points out, Brucey hasn't had the luxury of being able to rest him yet so lets get off the kids back and get behind the team. They need supporting, not berating.
The thing is Syd that in the past we have argued about ****e players not good ones. I dont mind telling anyone who is keen to listen about the shower of ****e I have watched and put up with for decades. Some people argued recently that the likes of Nuggsy and Collins should not be sold or moved on for christs sake. Nice lads they may be. Good footballers they are not. Henderson is rated by all the top 4 clubs and none less than the England manager let alone our own excellent manager. That he has tired of late (mentally not physically) and has come under severe critiscism from many quarters, sickens me to the back teeth, as the lad is about as good a prospect as we have had for a generation come through the ranks. We now have a quality squad of top players but we have had a poor run of form for a few weeks. Our injury list looks like shortening sooner rather than later and the fact Welbeck is on the plane this afternoon is teriffic news. Why then berate henderson as the previous poster did? Henderson isnt Peter Daniels or Tony Cullen. He is a full capped, Sunderland born England international and I'm immensley proud of that fact. Given time and nurturing, I think he could become a top player but he wont do it at SAFC. Too many of our fans will never give him the opportunity to make it here and thats a sad fact I am certainly not proud of mate. I am extremely voiciferous when it comes to crap management appointments or hapless players wearing the red & white but to slaughter a local young kid with excellent credentials, is just **** supporting in my book.
Great post and I agree with every word. Unfortunately, there are a handful on here who go way too far in their criticism of Jordan. We all know he is not at his best at the moment, but to character assassinate the young man is just not on. If you broke him in half you would see that he is red and white through and through......just like us! In time, he will come good again, so let's see some backing for one of our own. Great to see Dan the man back
Cant argue with any of that cest, just wish you would post more, I miss your rather direct style, not to mention the amount of words you use.
Agree 100% Cest. If there is one way to make sure Henderson continues with his loss of form and that is to knock whilst he is down. No matter what he always gives 100%. He suddenly does not become a bad player. Last week at Everton everyone played badly. Henderson should not be made a scapegoat for the whole teams failings!!
Cheers for the info Cestria.....We really are short of attacking options at the moment, so this is most certainly welcome news... I totally agree with you about the Henderson bashing...It just seems to me that certain sections of our supporters always need a scapegoat!
re.Jordan H .Get off the lad's back.He is giving his all for the club,we have seen what he can do and that he will prob be a great.
