    Alex Mathie
    Scott Sellars
    Rob Lee
    Darren Peacock
    Keith Gillespie
    Gary Speed
    Nobby Solano
    Olivier Bernard
    Laurent Robert

In fact here is a starting lineup:

If we're talking about players who were class but didn't get the appreciation off other supporters/the media then:

Aaron Hughes - not really loved by Newcastle fans, not blessed with mercurial ability but always did a very good job, a solid defender who is still producing down at Fulham.
Steve Watson - One of the best utility players I've seen, could do a very solid job literally any position on the pitch. Remember when he led the line against Liverpool and scored a beauty at the death for 1-0. And his acrobatic throw-ins <laugh>
Peter Beardsley - Obviously rated really highly by everyone but not highly enough IMO. One of the all-time greats but often forgotten when discussions of greatest players ever come up. One of the most naturally gifted footballers ever to play the game and easily the best ever to play for Newcastle that I've seen.
Rob Lee - Greatest box-to-box central midfielder I've ever seen play 'in the flesh' without a shadow of a doubt. Only 21 England caps for someone like him is a travesty.
Nolberto Solano - Another who was rated highly but not highly enough. What I'd do to have him in our team right now, great football brain.
Steve Howey - Class defender, such a shame injuries ruined his career.

Cushty :) Nobby wasn't much worse than Beckham back in the day like, but never got rated as much.

Going with the flow of Aaron Hughes, think he's the best RB we've had in quite awhile!

I always think Kieron Dyer is underrated by some NUFC fans who just remember him for the negatives!

I always rated Milner and N'zogbia before they moved off, didnt think they got enough praise here, once they left our team fell to pieces and we got relegated (not saying they were the sole reasons we got relegated, but they were big factors IMO).

Yeah, they should have been played on the wings all of the time. Pissed me off how Duff used to play over Zogs when fit and he got either moved to left back or put on the bench.

Yeah, Zog was never a LB, and Duff never did anything except put us down and then jump ship the judas. Kinnear basically got rid of Zog the fat git.

Beardsley. One of the greatest footballers of all time. Why does the world not still rave about how amazing he was?

It was either N'Zogbia or Carroll, and at the time N'Zogbia had already refused to play twice.

Emre, Robert, Solano, GINOLA, BEARDSLEY?!? I think a lot of people have a different definition of underrated to me. All top players, and all heralded as such.

To rate or evaluate too low.

Ginola I agree is insane to suggest as underrated. But how often do you actually hear non geordies/scousers discuss how utterly brilliant Beardsley was? Very, very rarely.

Nowadays? Not often, but he's been retired knocking on 15 years, think its safe to say anyone who saw him play for England in the 80's and early 90's realise how brilliant he is.

Yeah but look at the sort of players from that era who have gone on to achieve legend status and are easily rolled off the lips of people when they talk of English past greats. Many of them weren't of Beardsley's calibre in my opinion, possibly his reserved personality keeps him out of the limelight.
