irons on fire - surprised it went off at 15/2 but equally suprised it won. I thought it might not even had got a place, but well happy - gr8 start to the day
Was Kaffie ridden by Tom Queally today? went for home about a mile out and bottomed the horse out before the last. A good horse but just needs riding better, i really liked the way he travelled and put distance between them, just wished he would have done so half a mile later.
What on earth was Mchugh doing, the horse had a hood on for the stalls entry, but he took it off when one other was loading and the horse became so fractious that it missed the start and lost all chance. Ridiculously poor by the jockey.
Holmwood Legend has been well backed in the opener at Wincanton - opened at 7/1 this morning and is now into 11/4. I've thrown a couple of quid at him, he's rated 147 over fences
I really fancy Colour Squadron today in the Tolworth, He was really impressive battling to beat Montbazon another smart Henderson horse in his last start and I expect him and Prospect Wells to be in the mix. Not sure about Captain Conan, He could be anything and thats certainly why I won't be backing him. Hes got quite a reputation from what I can gather...
A couple from me today, in the 1.55 Newcastle THEOLIGIST 4/1 travels a long way for the Dr Newland yard, and has been unlucky in its last few races and looks like the one to follow, another in the same race at a decent price is the Lucy Wadahm trained AVIADOR at odds of 10/1 is worth a small EW bet. In the 2.05 at Sandown TANKS FOR THAT 5/1 was travelling well LTO when falling four out and with a clear round of jumping should be in the shake up again today. 3.10 Sandown MASTER OF THE HALL 7/2is a stayer and will relish todays conditions and the pace will suit him. My final selelction over the jumps runs in the 3.45 at Sandown, ALARAZI 9/2 takes a drop in class and should take all of the beating here today. On the AW today at Lingfield there are a couple of nice priced EW fancies in the 1.45 VITZNAU at 20/1 drops a further 3lb and is tried at 6f today, he is one ive followed throughout and is knocking on the door of the winners enclosure any time soon, hopefully today will be his day. In the 2.15 WABEEL 18/1 EW is plenty good enough to compete at this level, off a very nice mark and has very good C&D form off a much higher mark than today. In the 2.45 COLONEL MAK is FTO on the AW but has sufficent good form on Soft to Heavy to suggest that he will take to the surface and put in a good run, with Jamie Spencer booked to ride him today he is another that is an attractive EW bet at 9/1. Finally in the 3.55 HAWK MOTH at 25/1 is another that is on a very nice mark and should run a bold race off a nice mark at a very nice price in pretty average field.
I could do ok today judging by other people's selections Tanks for that 2.05 Sandown and Alarazi 3.45 Good luck everyone.
I've been sucked into backing Fire Fighter in this 1.35 - 3.35 is a crazy price about a horse rated 90 on the level. Had no intention of having a bet in this and may live to regret it, but 9/4 is a great price IMO
Come on you gamblers! Unlike Pricewise (and others), I won't tip two horses in one race to try and get an edge. Just put your £100.00 Each Way on Neptune Collonges at 9/1 with Ladbrokes. Ruby hasn't ridden him for three years, but he showed signs of a return to form last time. Nicholls obviously feels he doesn't need Harry Derham (ridden him last twice) to pull 7 lbs off; rather Ruby's expert handling round Sandown. I can't see him being 9/1 at the off. Logic dictates he'll go very close on this rain-softened ground.
You can't handle the truth!!!! Lovely ride by Nathan Allison. I like that chap, seems stylish enough too. Another big run by Efistorm, grand old performer.
Right, hoping for a big run in the Sandown 2.05 from Darcey's Dancer, who shaped as if there is a big run in him somewhere, keeping on well on non-ideal good ground a couple of starts back, and falling when going well enough held up last time out. Softer ground today much more in his favour, and this will be run at a good clip to play to his strenghts late on. Saver on Dave's Dream, who is unexposed at this trip and indeed this course. Very well backed at the Paddy Power meeting (9/1 chance) won by Great Endeavour and I suspect he could run well. Would prefer Barry G on board, but you can't have it all.
Paul Nicholls comnes out in the Betfair column and says Hold Fast is handicapped to the hilt and that they are not expecting a win. So he bolts up by half the track. What a prat.
Easy for Hold Fast but All For Free one to note up in trip. Outpaced throughout but stayed on pleasingly.
