With the latest allegation new threads are already surfacing that go straight into a discussion about racism.

At the moment you could say that the subject is relevant as it in some way involves the club, players or supporters.

This is a Liverpool FC board for Liverpool FC fans so do you want these threads closed and no discussion on these matters or would you like them to remain open but moderated as they have been?

    Use the poll.

    Racism threads or racist threads?

Racism threads are fine - but the minute wums come on then close them. If our fans can have an adult discussion about important issues such as racism then I don't see a problem.

Either way LG - you're a ****ing forum legend.

neither. I would like the mods to moderate these threads limit their number aswell and use the ban function for repeat muppets, so when the likes of Berb and Comas spout bollox then those posts should just disppear altogether. If they get deleted then the muppet posters wont bother, it has turned into 606 which I fkn hated.

i know the mods got day jobs but ye all accepted the mod role so flex a bit of those huge common sense muscles and clean up our board

I think if you close all threads you're saying it isn't an issue, which, with varying degrees, it is. However, I would argue that it is not just our club involved and that the threads highlight the influence the media has and its ability to whip up a storm in a teacup. From what I've read from other sources the police were NOT and had NOT looking for or had aressted any fan for racist abuse.

If by keeping the topics open and moderated we can reasonably discuss racism in football, fair enough. By not having the threads we are simply ignoring the issue.

To be fair we are cleaning up the board as often as possible (that's all I do lately), you only get to see some of it depending on your use of the forum.

It's not possible to clean up every post on a fast moving thread because as you say we work so there is not always a mod on here. We have to scan and clean up/close when we can.

As well as us using our mod tools the members have to use their common sense and not escalate inappropriate discussions.

I get you matey honestly I do, I had meant these threads only as this is the subject, there are not that many of them, we need to crack down on pot shop cheap shop wumming
    On this subject..
.if an arguemnt put forward is obviously not reasonable and looking to wind members up in a thread GONE,
If a new thread is too similar to the ones already going with nothing new, GONE
f members keep doing this BAN
I think that criteria should dictate the racism and Suarez threads as it is a very touchy subject and one not deserving spite bollox or wum from members, standards need to be set on this topic

P.S. I know there is a lot of posts threads ect so it is up to members to help out and refer rubbish to mods to deal with, its our board we can all help clean it up<ok>

    Mikey <ok> 100% agree

We know what to expect, ignore the tools and just discuss with the people with a bit of intelligence.

It's a serious and emotive issue but not one to be ignored <ok>

The mods do a fine job on our board and we don't expect you lads to have to keep discussions reasonable, we should be capable of doing that ourselves.

Yeah but there is a difference between being a WUM and trying to have a discussion. Some people are too touchy. If you can't discuss things like an adult, even if it is something you don't agree with, what is the point of a forum ?? A forum should be just that, a forum.

Not a Liverpool fan but I can understand where you're coming from, it's always going to turn into an excuse to chastise Liverpool fans by some rival fans but racism in football is worth discussing and I don't see why it can't be on the Liverpool forum(or atleast the PL forum). If it gets out of hand, in terms of it becoming unmoddable due to the volume of wums compared to actual decent talk about racism in football then I'd agree with removing references to it from this forum. That'd be a decision for the mods though, I'd have thought.

If Liverpool fans ignore the stupid comments and don't rise to the bait then I'm sure it'd make your own mods jobs easier too.

For the record, it was clearly a tiny minority of the fans and it's not a Liverpool exclusive problem. The criticism of the player for reacting to it by a couple of Liverpool fans haven't helped though.

Post a sticky thread with the stance on racism clearly spelled out, lock it to comments.

Close and remove racism threads if they exist purely to discuss racism.

The boy did go into drama queen mode in fairness.

The racists were a minority of about 2 in a crowd of nearly 40,000 from what I've seen and read.

But isn't this what a forum is about, to allow people to speak and to discuss things.

If you could only talk about things that were factually correct you wouldn't be able to talk about much cos nobody knows the facts about anything ever .. unless you are involved.

You're right to a point, but this board is for Liverpool fans. So if the majority are not happy with threads then they can be removed, as you have seen debate is allowed on here I don't delete everything I disagree with. I also want to make sure the board has plenty of happy members or they may go elsewhere.

    Agree with this.
Racism and its repercussions are serious topics which deserve serious discussion.
Anyone using this subject to score cheap points however is just an opportunist hypocrite and can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.

In a democracy you must be allowed to discuss topics that are repellent and abhorrent, such as racism, if it is pertinent and relevent to football, but close multiple threads and just keep the one going.

What I would like to see is what happened on BBC 606 whereby a thread started by a rival supporter on a board was closed because its intention was to wind up, even if the author denied that was its purpose. Like the one started by Londonsfinest! <grr>

Can't stop them from posting on our articles, though. I still maintain they don't have to look at what we're posting. I never look at what the mancs are saying on their board, they talk too much crap for it to be of any interest to me.

I'm not a Liverpool fan but this issue is of importance to all clubs - how it is dealt with will have an impact on all of us in the event one of our players does something similar. Last night's affair is obviously important for the same reason. If people can debate the issue with Liverpool supporters without slating Liverpool unfairly then i would hope we'd be welcome to do so- if people use it as an excuse to abuse your club then you should, of course, delete them in my opinion.

I think enough debate has been left and some will say not enough crap deleted. Your opinions have been good as you are impartial and have not just jumped on the get at Liverpool bandwagon.

    Democracy - interesting.

Do you think the United Kingdom is a democracy?
