maybe we will and we are well aware that players will be sold if the price is right but the only idiot i see on here on a daily basis is you with your constant comments about us being a selling club when in reality every club is a selling club when the price is right (ronaldo to real for example) so what you say isn't ground breaking revelations but something we all know it's just we don't need some dullard ramming it down our throats everyday

we sell them more often you hapless whelp! I don't enjoy us selling them , however when I see people in denial I feel obliged to straighten them out. Time will tell but I've been arguing 2 players will go this January.

Just stop , think about whether I'm right and swallow the pill .

Probably a relegation clause - can leave for £10m or whatever if we go down. So basically there isn't one because we ain't going down

Yeah there is indeed a release clause that is independent of relegation but there won't be many teams taking the risk to buy him because of his dodgy knee, even for £10M. The only reason I see a team buying him is to wreck our season: maybe L_______l or S________d <whistle>

Fair enough I'll try and be less of a cock about it then. Anyway I'm a few hours away from world fame so hopefully we can put all this behind us. Light up the torches honey.

Some people say the weirdest things .. no names mentioned.

Back to the ACTUAL TOPIC OF THE THREAD.. There are clauses all over in contracts now so i wouldnt be surprised if there was some sort of clause in there but in any case i cant see it being a problem, even if someone bid for him i cant see him leaving, not yet anyway.

Let's look at recent windows and the circumstances in which the players left shall we.

Andy Carroll - 35 mil + add ons - Recieved a fee well above the ridiculous figures being put around by Spurs, mad to turn it down.

Kevin Nolan - 5 mil - Wanted a contract the club wouldn't offer him despite his best years being behind him, went to West Ham where they would give him that contract.

Jose Enrique - 5/6 mil - Wasn't sure he'd get into the Spain squad at our club and had been unsettled for almost half a season after the Carroll sale. Club had every right to sell him.

Joey Barton - free - Had a bad relationship with the board and constantly made his views known to the public. A troublemaker that could have damaged the squad if he stayed, every right to get rid.

Selling club, maybe, but only in the right circumstances and if it benefits us. That's not to mention the fact we've sold less than 5 players in a year to date.

Most players have a buy out clause, how do you think we got Cabaye for £4.5 Million???

As some one has already said, with Ba away on ACoN duty I wouldn't him or Tiote to go in this window. And as the same as Tiote, I think Ba will get a contract review when he get's back to improve his terms and to amend the clause he has.

MA isn't stupid and hardly selling players on the cheap, and for those that keep harping on about him pocketing the money. He ploughed £135 mill of his own money into the club, so what is made will pay this off. As soon as that is clear the club is self sufficeint and he can sell the club.

As for Arry, it was the interviewer that mentioned the clause. Arry was just daft enought to comment on it and the press to blow it out of proportion. After all why would he let everyone else know what the clause was if he wanted to sign Ba!! Doesn't make sense.

The way I see it Ba & Tiote are hundreds of miles away and wouldn't expect to see anything heppen with them this window.

If the clause is anything like the Swansea defender Taylor's one, it will just allow them to talk to Ba, not out and out sign him. Swansea turned down our bid that activated it so why wouldn't we, particularly as he is the (second?) best defender in the league. He seems to be enjoying his football here and acts like a pretty sound, down to earth guy, so I would hope he'd stick with us, but hey, you never know. Also MrTiote, your whole 'shop window' attitude to the club seems a little unfounded. Sure we sold an on form player in Carroll but he was being hugely overvalued. Everyone else sold has been having contract issues or pissing off the board, neither are a category Ba, or indeed Tiote, fall into. I would be very surprised if we sell either except for an inordinate amount of money, especially as we are now, supposedly, on a sound financial footing and don't especially need the cash...
