I think if we are looking to build for next season, then we should TRY and keep our best players..... Nicky Maynard being one of them. At the moment his goals are saving us from relegation......priceless. DM needs to know the spine of the team and bring in players around that.........it's the only way..
I have watched that goal against Milwall again and again. I am sure Maynard did not get a touch on it!
RP- what happened to your 'bad apple' theory? Technically I agree that Maynard is better than both, but he is burning his bridges with us and they are almost gone. The dressing-room is better without a wantaway who's heart is elsewhere.
If we are to do a swap, Simon Cox for me all day long (and that was before today). That would be a FABULOUS signing...
R&W re 'bad apple'. I said that when the news first broke and yes, if I was manager he would have be on gardening leave immediately. However since then DM has come out numerous times 'defending' Maynard and so has Sextone. That's why I think he may be here next season and if so with DM's new recruits this summer I feel he's a better option than the other players mentioned. If Ive misunderstood the conciliatory remarks of DM and Sextone then I stand by my earlier comment - gardening leave !
Hes not playing very well anyway, if he had signed a new contract I would suggest he needs bringing out the side for a while anyway. Having said that I am sure he would be trying harder if that were the case.
tbh i just want him to go, its really pissing me off and thats as a fan i dont know what it would be like being pitman or stead, being kept out of the side by someone who dosent want to play there
That sort of talk REALLY annoys me - HOW THE **** DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS...????!!!! Players are not that stupid that they don't think that some will move on to better things. Nicky has been here for 4 years and that would mean that he is part of the gang so could anyone who is putting the theory forward, explain to me why Nicky moving on to another club would mean that he would be ostrcished by his mates....? CLEARLY THIS ISN'T THE CASE or I agree, he wouldn't be allowed near the dressing room. The only way that he would become a basd apple is if his team mates decided to take exception, AFTER READING THE CRAP POSTED ON HERE BY PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T GOT A CLUE Grow up and give it a rest...
I couldn't care less whether he is ostracised by his mates or not. All I know is from my point of view and I have been spending some time watching him as an individual he isn't trying very hard and he couldn't give a **** about Bristol City football club. Well, I could, so he can **** off sooner rather than later as fas as I'm concerned!
On the NM situation, I doubt if any other City striker would still be in the team if he had not scored for 9 games – I think the one against Millwall brushed his bootlaces at best and should have been given to Albert.
The point, if I remember correctly, was that he was disrupting the rest of the camp which was what my post was in reply to. How the **** do you know he gives a **** about City, of course he does - thats just a childish comment chucking the toys out of the pram because we're not getting what we want.. As for not trying, suggest you get a couple of DVD's and count the number of runs made by said striker WHERE THE BALL WAS NEVER PLAYED Its very easy to fire blanks and look bad if you have no ammunition to work with...
Prem - while I agree with the vast majority of what you've said... With regards to NM's movement up front etc, he doesn't move an awful lot, but when he does, the runs he makes are asking a bloody lot of our midfield to hit. Most of the time he's running diagonally between two defenders anticipating a pass that has no room for error. Hartley was good enough to hit the diagonal passes he looks for perfectly but with our midfield as it is surely he'd do better just to go towards the player with the ball and offer another option? I know the midfield has to take some of the blame for not playing the passes but the movement from both Nicky and Albert in particular doesn't help them in the slightest. Pearson is one of the only players that looks to move into space and make himself available for the pass.
I think its got to the point now where pitman should be starting games ahead of wine gum it cannot do his confidence much good seeing a want away striker who is not playing as well as he has done in the past getting picked a head of him every week!! Now if I was pitman I would be starting to consider my own future at the club as well.
