Great result: was trying to get updates on mobile from this & twitter as couldn't see/hear match! Thank the lord Downing popped his Cherry & Carroll's sweet. As to other nonsense, empire of Kop retweeting few versions of fans allegedly couple of seats away. One says supporter yelled "manc bastard" & got ejected, another said 3 drunk blokes, didn't specify words, got ejected last retweet from bloke apparently sat behind said one bloke, said nothing got ejected... Somewhere in between as usual probably! Next round here we come!
I'm pretty certain he'll become a Liverpool first team winger soon for years to come. That's the beauty of academies, player's that make it (in the big clubs) generally stay at the club for most of their career (except for some obvious cases!). He's already in our first team squad, so hopefully he'll get his chance soon. Especially as we could really do with a traditional right winger that can take people on that's also very quick. Hypothetically, Bellamy on the left and Sterling on the right would bring a crazy amount of speed to the team. My only concern with Sterling is he cuts in too early sometimes rarely taking it to the byline to cross, bit too predictable. I'm sure though they're working on that in training as he has some serious potential. Anyway back on topic! Great win tonight, 5 goals makes a change! We weren't at our best either, for me it highlighted how good the Agger, Skrtel partnership is also Enrique for me is vital. At times we looked sloppy at the back, luckily our finishing was clinical. Bellamy was class, I wish he was able to play every game! overall, a well deserved win
I thought the same about Agger and Skrtel. As for Sterling, it would be nice to see him get his debut soon, but a lot of players who start young at a top level become injury prone in their late 20's,shortening their career. Especially the fast ones. Torres and Owen are perfect examples.
SKY, to be fair to Sterling he is only 16 so still has plenty of time to develop and learn when best to cut in and when best to go down the line. I think he's right footed but played on left wing so his natural instict will be to cut in. Hopefully training with Bellamy & Downing will help him learn that.
That's true the majority of times I've seen him play at youth level he's been on the Left, but for me unless a winger is completely comfortable with both feet they should stick to their natural side. But to be honest I'm a fan of old fashioned wingers and not so keen on the newish cutting in style that is so common now.
Agree about comfortable with both feet. It still amazes me how a pro footballer sometimes cannot use their "weaker foot". If I got paid 50k a week I'd make sure I learnt how to kick with both! I play with guys on a Sunday morning who are comfortable using both so it really is no excuse. I think football has moved on from the days when you had wingers staying out wide and crossing to the "big number 9" to head the ball in. Played more on the floor and trying to work the ball into the penalty box is becoming a more common trend.
