Where was Ian Rush playing when Liverpool signed him? Chester City in the old 3rd division. John Aldridge from Oxford Utd where either 3rd or 2nd division. Cloughie made a career out of finding these little gems and moulding a team. I think its time to go back to where we were about 20 to 25 years ago and start and look at lower league players. The reason he would cost as much is because he is English and young and it wouldnt be all up front anyway. I just think maybe some of these foreign lads for mega bicks and mega wages dont want to be here and it shows. This lad Rhodes would surely relish the opportunity to play for a Premiership club and would work his socks off.
I'm not saying he is but his credentials suggest he has been consistent at league level. I mistakenly said Championship but I meant League One of course. Lower leagues have some real gems if you look hard enough.
With spending my working life abroad, lose contact with those leagues. will look to the future, you may be proven right.
He's still growing and like noble needs filling out. Seen him live a couple of times and he stands out on every pitch I have seen. He is a finisher in the can't teach that mould as seen by his cheeky boxing day goal. Whether he could do it in the next 5 months as we need not sure but am sure whoever gets him is signing what will be a very good player.

I hate to say it but I agree with Cest. Who else are we going to get? and this lad will be hungry for it, him and Wickham could be the future for SAFC for almost 10 years and IMO both are ready now. Remember Bobby Zamora came from League 1. I know he has scored the goals in league 1 but the lad can only score against the opposition in front of him. In MON I trust as someone else said I would be quite happy with Mary Poppins if MON thinks she is good enough.

Most Premier reserve team player's get loaned out to Championship team's, so effectively Noble is playing and scoring regulary at a minimum level of Championship standard. I agree he has got a slight build, but I think he definatly deserve's a chance!
Hernanadez is no bodybuilder either Tees. Any way Rhodes is clearly crap couldn't get his double hat trick.
