Really hope things work out for him and Hull City, "he,s one of our own he,s one of our own Nicky barmby he,s one of our own" hope people remember that when things may not be going well, lets really get behind this manager and lift him when needed
Obviously the decision to end his playing career was one of the reasons why Nick took his time. Clearly he has received the assurances from the Allams and AP that he was after re the future direction of the club. Good to note that in the article he talks about the way we are going to play "as a club" and not just as a first team, but reserves and juniors are also going to become passing teams. No more hoof it and hope = happy days
Is it a 7 man bench tomorrow? If so I wouldnt be suprised if he named himself on the bench and came on for the last 5 mins if the game permitted
Out of interest apart from Kenny at Liverpool, has there been any successful player-managers. And when it is officially announced that should show our players there is stability at our club (Papa is not going to fire him after a few bad results unlike some Thai owners will, and NB will not allow himself to be poached by another club.) so why should they leave for a possible bench warming role at another club.
There's a good write up Barmby's career on Amber Nectar, though be warned, it's such a long article, it's almost a book... http://www.ambernectar.org/blog/2012/01/a-tribute-to-nick-barmby-the-player/?
You are right on this, I am sure we were all thinking this during the last few games when we needed a boost, but sometimes choices are tough. The team has to grow up and it's best that they find another way to change matches when needed.
