On Twitter: 'Led to believe #SaintsFC do not harbour any serious interest in #DRFC striker Billy Sharp, who has been offered £28k per week by #LCFC.' 'Sharp willing to accept £20k per week & £30k upon promotion should #SaintsFC decide to make a bid. #LCFC in driving seat, though.'
There seems to be conflicting stories about Sharp's release clause. Some suggest around £1.8m, others £3m. The former would certainly be cheaper than Lukas, and the latter is probably at worst about what Lukas would cost (and at best, about £1m cheaper than Lukas - I honestly think Coventry will be looking for £3 - £4 million for him). But yeah, I certainly don't think that Lukas would be a lot cheaper than Sharp.
Well if Simon Peach is right, it would be £20,000 per week for Sharp, rising to £30,000 should we get promoted. I don't think £20,000 is stupid money for someone of Sharp's ability.
20,000 is too much for my liking it would mean he earns more than lambert which is abit of a kick in the nuts given the tremoundous job he's done for us. I'd rather have players who want to play for us rather than want to earn with us!
I think you are underestimating the Saints wage bill. I'm led to understand Fox is on circa £20k p/w. Players like Lambert, Fonte, Cork, Lallana all on recent contracts with all be on more than that, probably upto £25k p/w. The Japanese press have reported Tadanari Lee is going to be on £15k rising to £23k p/w if promoted.
wage is way too much IMO, not just for Fox but Cork as well. We can cope without them, but Lambert, Fonte & Lallana should be the highest wage earners but blimey not that high
Fair enough I was under the impression no one earned 20k I guess not on very good authority! My point was upsetting a wage structure for a new player would seem unfair on the existing players. Although those wages seem very high I guess we better get promotion.
i would either like Jutk and Rhodes. Sharp is not going to be a good target man and that is what i think we need to cover lambert. 20k a week, no thanks. Sharp is 25 Jutkiewicz is 22 Rhodes is 21
I'm slowly starting to believe Rhodes could be worth a shot but West ham have already had 1 bid rejected. Can't see Hudders letting him go for less than 3.5 million
No-one else in the Championship, yes. But I could see a Premiership team or two being willing to pay that, especially when you consider just how young Rhodes still is.
