Talking of Krasic, apparently Juventus may let him move. However there a quite a few clubs interested Chelsea,us, Inter & Fenerbahce with those sort of odds we probably won't get a look in. No fee has been mentioned.
The problem we have, if we make our bids too soon into the window, is that it will clubs like 'Pool, Arsenal, £ity, Chelsea and United, all of whom not only can afford the fees, but can also out-bid us on personal terms. I think what Levy generally tries to do is to wait for all potential rival-bidders to tie themselves up with other players, and then to make his move. It's frustrating for us fans, but I can't see any way round it, not until we can match these other clubs on the kinds of wages we can pay.
Maybe we should bid for Cahill, Krasic, Bent and whoever Man Utd want, that way we rush them to spend their money and then we can go for our actual targets for the last two weeks of the window.
On the subject of Ganso, 'Arry said "I've never heard of him" So that rumour's rubbished and he's playing it cool on Hoilett and Samba too. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7415126/Spurs-struggling-to-compete
That just makes it sound like we're interested in the Blackburn duo, YV. The Cahill thing might just be a bluff, forcing Chelsea's hand, probably increasing the player's wage due to the possibility of another club signing him and distracting from any real target.
Yeah, by playing it cool I meant he is interested. His answer seemed a bit coy which is usually a good sign. I'd liken the Cahill interest to Adam last January. It was a last minute deal in attempt to get him cheap as soon as another team came in and bumped up the price we're out of it. It was a half hearted deal.
If Harry has genuinely never heard of him I worry about the state of our scouting, even i've heard of him and i've never watched Brazilian football in my life.
QPR http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16442700.stm Pretty sure there isn't a team in the league that would turn down the opportunity to sign Samba, what makes QPR think he'd be interested in them?!
It's likely a joke with the journalists. Either he has no interest in him or wants everyone to think that's the case. I'm not sure our scouts would've felt the need to bring the player to his attention either. Up until today the rumoured fee for him has been £25-40mill and he's an attacking midfielder, which is a position we don't need to spend big on.
Why would you get rid of all of those players? Might as well keep them in the squad in case of injuries.
Bassong, GDS and Pav all want out. Pav only has 4 sub appearances to his name and he'd be directly replaced by Damiao. Bassong beats Pav, boasting one league start in addition to 4 sub appearances but again he's directly replaced. Pienaar's clearly untrusted by HR as he's not had a single game in the league, even whilst Lennon was out so why keep him? Niko wants regular football which he won't get and he doesn't really fit anywhere into the team. GDS is a combination of all the rest, he doesn't fit in, isn't trusted, wants out and would be easily replaced by Hoilett.
He told reporters on Friday: “Demba Ba's done great hasn’t he? Everybody's looking at him suddenly. “Anybody could have had him a year ago. Full credit to Alan Pardew, he took him. “He's done a fantastic job [and] what a strike-rate he's got. He's probably the most in-form striker anywhere at the moment. “He's certainly done well and it will be interesting to see what happens there, but at the moment he's doing great things for Newcastle. “He's off to play in the African Cup of Nations now so he's going to be away for a month or so, so that’s a difficult one. “At the moment Newcastle have got him and I’m sure Alan wants to keep him. He'd be disappointed if he had to lose him. He would be difficult to replace.” I think Harry likes the look of Demba Ba. I like the look of Demba Ba. Of the strikers playing in England right now he's got to be the stand-out candidate for us due to a) his quality and b) the team he currently plays for. I said it a few days ago - anything around the £20m mark or less has got to be good. And Ashley'll be tempted with the idea of having made £20m in just a few months, won't he?
The rumoured release clause is £7m, according to the Geordie board. Could be completely made up, though.
OMG. Well £7m for him, even if he is at the ACON for the next few games is the most obvious no-brainer I've ever heard. And it COULD be true - don't forget the clause in his West Ham contract that let him leave for free if they went down.
Aside from QPR bidding £5m for Samba (don't think it's been accepted/rejected yet) - this also appeared on the BBC site today... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16443781.stm (Junior Hoilett could be sold says Blackburn boss Kean) Perhaps we should make a bid now and get the deal done...rather than leave it to deadline day
I don't know why people keep talking about us making early transfers. Our window lasts precisely 5 minutes on everyone else's deadline day.
Can a player move every transfer window? I thought there was a maximum amount of transfers in a year?
