This is what I like to see! A bit of good natured banter. Supers, I've taken them through the rules and the facts. They're, of course, free to select the only ones they want to, so i suppose we can't do any more
Rob, you put your points across well and to a certain extent you've convinced me on some of these points. You're right that Lambert shows more class than Neil in the way he defends his player. But by saying that Johnson shows great discipline throughout is just wrong. Surely he knows that Johnson made a meal of it, purely from the fact that he later joked that he was reacting to the smell of Barton's breath! To then stick up for Johnson like he is some kind of saint is embarrassing. I think we're also forgetting that whilst the linesman and referee were debating the sending off, Johnson continued to rub his face and look at his hand like he was looking for blood! I agree that the anger should be mainly aimed at the referee and that Johnson isn't much worse than a lot of players, but what I'm discussing with this thread is Lambert's refusal to suggest Johnson did anything wrong, regardless of whether other players might or might not do the same.
You're entitled to your opinion mate. Look at his latest post...condescending or what? It's gone...move on!
In a parallel universe a long way away where managers and players are a little bit more honest.... Neil Warnock said "Joey is a tool and deserved to be sent off for getting involved in an altercation which could of easily been considered violent conduct, he should of just got on with the game and not allowed himself to be outsmarted by that nose holding idiot Johnson. It wasn't the ref's fault that Joey did what he did, and whether he saw it himself or the 4th official saw it he was right to send him off" and Lambert said "The ref was right and Barton deserved to go but Johnson should be embarrased with his over reaction to the minimal conduct that was made, he was clearly trying to get Joey Barton sent off and i dont condone my players behaving in this way as Norwich are a better team than this. His subsequent tweeted picture highlights his immaturity and tells me he has a long way to go before i consider him to be a 'Professional' footballer.
Hmm. Yeah, i suppose claiming anyone is a saint is going a bit far, and actually this is the first time Lamberts ever done anything like this. NW finally got him riled! And Johnson certainly deserved a yellow for one of his tackles. But he did straighten his act up after the incident, and he hasn't had any yellows all season. Also, it does sound like in private Lambert gave him a bollocking, especially about that stupid photo. I have to say I thought the swipe at NW for deflecting criticism, while maybe true, was also pretty out of character for Lambert and not really that classy either. Edited out of our local paper!!
This is in danger of getting out of hand....again!! A lot of you Canaries are as unpleasant as your manager.
Cheers. I really do wish you all the best. I said at the beginning of the season I wanted all the promoted teams to stay up and nothing's changed there. On paper I'd say you have the best team (Samba would be an incredible addition!) Looking forward to a great match next season! I've had my say, I honestly will leave you alone
Oh yeah, it's almost 5 o'clock, the kids are home from school. Shouldn't you be getting on with your homework?
there is absolutely no question that lambert gave johnson a rollocking and a half for that photo! i expect him to be 'benched' for a couple of games now. would be interesting to know if warnock did the same with barton in private
Nice one mate. I think it's a good thing to steady our biased views with that of the opposing fans. I think maybe both sides of the argument needed a bit of mediating. Good luck with the rest of the season. I've got a lot of time for Norwich the team and the city, shame last week's game almost ruined it! I would agree with you and say that QPR have the best set of players (which will only get better), but unfortunately, out of the three promoted teams we have the worst team. Hopefully NW will get them playing like one before its too late.
