Rio Ferdinand? Yes. That doesn't make also punishing Liverpool harshly for something fair though. They do it to high profile footballers to send a message through the media. If it was someone like Steven Fletcher of Wolves then no one would care and he probably wouldn't have got a ban for either of those things.

Again, since the 'reaction' of the club and himself have been consistent, and in line with the evidence he presented, I think that it is immaterial to the punishment levied.

And the PA panel were EXPLICIT in stating the it would have been a 4 match ban except for the aggravating factor that the word was said multiple times.

Given that you conceded that "All we know is Suarez said negro once." please justify the 8 match ban?

So far, your entire argument has been "Because I say so", neither reasoned nor objective.

Thus earning you your WUM badge 1st Class

Your mum must be so proud, finally you have an achievement.

And Suarez has already said he refers affectionately to Glen as Negro, just as De Gea and Hernandez refer affectionately to Evra as Negro.

Agree. And tbh I was a little surprised that the FA hit Suarez for 8 games. But nevertheless I wasn't present at the hearing and didn't hear his answers. Maybe he came across as unreliable and the FA felt compelled to act?

Did it go into the failure to be there? How many had valid excuses? Its all very well saying you forgot when you have what amounts ot a PA managing everything for you, but hospital, family matters maternity matters and so on can provide a valid reason other than

I forgot<doh> even if he was being honest he should have come up with something better, anyone without a valid reason for missing a test should be banned I agree with that but when have the FA or any other body involved in football been consistent.

I would saythey were just cancelled because the effect on thje premiership in Europe, for the good of the english game they were 'cancelled' which is bollox of course, can't ahve the english game tarnished by reports of over 200 players missing drug tests.

I rather suspect, that on the balance of probabilities, you were. Drugs in sport was big news then, and the FA needed to be seen to be taking the issue of mutli-millionaire role models hoovering up kilos of Colombia finest Devils-dandruff seriously. After all, this was the start of the era of obscenely big contracts...

Rio's excuse of I forgot could be true. He does come across sometimes as a bit thick.

To be fair to Rio, most professional footballers come across as thick.

It's brilliant that you actually believe that.

So do you use that word to address black people?

hmmm, idiots deal with absolutes, Never EVER eh?

    Muppet.

Funny think is, all the white people are in uproar and the black folk are, what erm, who cares for the most part. Most people ahve lives and are not causght up in this forum debate you fool, this forum, board is not a reflection of the general feeling about this.

John Barnes made a lot of sense, as did other black folks that this is all jsut a huge whitey overreaction to something trivial because of the history of racism in England, it was the English that were enslaving blacks and pretty much invented racism as we know it., all in the past, not a pop at English folks, it is just where this hysteria comes from, like mentioning Nazis in germany is a big no no, why

Would you? Are any of us Spanish speakers from Uruguay? If it isn't naturally in our language, we're certainly not going to start using it because someone speaking spanish does.

Are you truly so simple that you cannot conceive of a situation where the behaviour of another culture is actually different to your own...<doh>

er, technically, no. The slaves were sold into slavery by their fellow africans in the most part. It was a huge industry whereby certain tribal groups would raid their neighbours to secure captives to trade with Europeans for wares. Once sold as chattals, they were transported in inhuman conditions to various locations across the globe as slave labour.

As for inventing racism, that is as old as organised society. The English didn't invent that either.

It just so happens that we built an Empire and amassed huge wealth on the back of slave labour. And its something that means that certain sections of society have huge chips on their shoulders about. Some is guilt, some is prejudice.

    Embarrassing response that mate.

I'm trying to have an actual discussion but throwing names around like BraindeadOpinion etc is childish IMO.

We could go all day about the fairness of the ban but lets just remember Ferdinand got an 8 month ban for something 100's of footballers have seemingly gotten away with. I don't remember anybody least of all Liverpool fans being upset about it. So you won't find me very sympathetic about it. All I know is Suarez racially abused Evra and if that was any other line of work the person would be sacked on the spot.
