Which was the one good game he had for us? There was definitely one but I forget against who.

Doesn't say much for the £50,000 a week or so that he took home!

From Shoot (or Match, can't remember) annual 2001, interview with King Shola:

Q: What does Sir Bobby Robson call you?
    A: Carl Cort.

    Geordie legend.

Plus, I think Khizanizvilli did a job for us. He was brought in as cover. Anyway, nominations for the **** list:

    Craig Moore
    Rozenhal
    Owen
    Viduka

And that's just from an idle browse through one old programme. We have had a lot of **** over the years. Nicky Butt scrapes through on the basis of the Championship year, and Obafemi Martins was good entertainment. Probably scored just enough goals to get away with it.

Couldn't have either of those in. Both had talent but were just ill suited to the league. More so Hugo mind!

Bit tricky Owen. i think he'd play better in a better team ( like one that pays you as you play after you've raped us for about £24m , enough to build your stud farm)...........what was Fat Fred thinking????

He played well when he came on away at City. Looked sharp and organised the defence well.

I really knew how to pick my games last year. I bore witness to Sol's exploits at City, West Brom, Birmingham and Stoke! He only made eight appearances!

I only know the modern day players, so I won't be much use, but off the top of my head:
    Geremi
    Troisi
    Cacapa

    all spring to mind.

Troisi came through the academy system. Signed to the academy as a 15/16 year old in 2005 so he didn't cost us anything.

Kluivert. Good shout. My mate working at Northern Rock once told me Kluivert had a 2 year mortgage on a £750,000 house in Jesmond!! Just another "Ian Rush" type pay day signing living on memories.

He wasn't played correctly in my opinion by many managers such as Fat Sham who expected a short player to outjump and out muscle 6ft+ CB's.

His best game was suited to the ball being played at his feet or at least just behind the defence and on the grass. I still recall him shouting back to the defence and midfield on many occasions pointing to his feet as the ball soared overhead but the game plans didn't cater for his style.

I must be the only one old enough to remember Bobby Shinton, Pat Heard, Graham Oates. Now they were really bad. (Where's Jimisleysbaldhead when you need him?)
