So what you're saying is that you could probably swear at someone in German, but if they used a colloquial expression that was highly offensive in English but not offensive in German you might be offended by it? ;)

You went to an odd school that taught the swearing to you. Mine just gave us the bog standard bits about looking for the beach and how to order coffee and milk in a cafe...<laugh>

Our French teacher was quality. She once came to watch the school football team and shouted from the sideline '****ing smack him' when someone squared up to me <laugh>

She also let me miss my French speaking exam so I could go to the France 98 world cup <ok>

What are you trying to say? I don't understand your point? Do you think Suarez was ok to say negro to Evra because it was in Spanish?

I think the point is that, in this version of events, Evra bring race/ethnicity into the argument (South American/Sudaca - understood in Spanish to be an insult to South Americans) and Suarez replied by equally bringing an otherwise irrelevant point of Evra's race into the discussion, without actually using it in a deliberately insulting manner (i.e. adding an insulting word after, as would be common).

That he used the word is not disputed, and he accepted before the panel that he would not do so again, understanding as he does now how it may be perceived.

Are you suggesting it would have been fine for Suarez to say "Why Black man?" I seriously don't think you are...

I really don't understand this opinion that the words negro and negrito should be banned and are never allowed under any circumstances ever. Half the manu side use them regularly. All the South and Central American players do. It's said on all the training grounds and on the pitch and at the players homes.

Banning words because of staggering cultural ignorance and spelling similarities to English words with different meanings is quite frankly absurd. And completely intolerant of other cultures, the very opposite of what those suggesting it's banning think they're promoting.

Once again I have asked you to show me the evidence of Evra using the word Sudamericana' to Suarez. It was alleged by Liverpool but was unproven. Spanish speaking experts have said Sudamericana is not known to be an insulting word. Sudaca however is, a word that Evra is unlikely to know anyway and not shown to use it in the report.

Suarez brought Evra's race into the argument for what reason we don't know. Would you refer to a persons skin colour in this country or Uruguay if you were arguing with them?

No Liverpool fans have answered me this question yet anyway. Do you think Suarez calls Glen Johnson 'Negro'?

Agreed SKY, thinks its naivety and i hope he has learnt his lesson.

To me this situation is best looked at as camparable to.

Young English footballer plays his sport in the Uk for his favorite team with his boys.....Then gets a trasfer to South Africa where he refers to one of his team mates as Boy...He is given a lengthy ban, but cannot see what he has done wrong.

It would have been wrong to ignore Evras complaints, but it would also be wrong to hold this against Suarez in the future when he has served his punishment.

Thats my final say on the matter, im off to the match thread

What is so bad about saying Boy in South Africa?

Also the part in bold, you are being naive if you think football fans won't label Suarez a racist for the rest of his days. Just like you lot label Ferdinand a druggie 8 years on even though it wasn't proven he failed a drugs test.

That's fickle football fans for you.

Oh and Ferdinand got an 8 month ban from the FA. Biased or what?

Just dont go calling any black south Africans Boy...thats my advice. Its a derogatory term, but if you didnt know south African culture you wouldnt know......Which is exactly my point....Many thanks for highlighting it.

Im not saying that football fans wont label him a racist......Im just saying it is wrong to, as once people have served fort their crime, it should be job done......Thats the whole point of a punishment.....

However, Im well aware that people will hold it against him gfor the rest of his playing days, which is just as bad as racism....Like you say Football fans are fickle........

I have never labelled Rio a druggie...if i had to live in manchester and pull on a United shirt every week i would probably turn to drugs also
