It reminded me a bit of the roberto Carlos free kick, although granted it didn't bend in quite as much! What a strike
We now have players capable of this kind of skill and a manager who knows how to get the best out of them! Life is good again
the way he approached it and then curled it with the outside of his right foot reminded me of jay jay okocha's one years ago. maybe not as technically perfect, and arguably the conditions helped it move through the air, but it was still an absolutely superb free kick. after years of being the tamest team in the league from set pieces, we are offering a real threat there now.
4 goals, 4 different strikes and 4 quality ones as well. I can't sing their praises high enough. Patched up and makeshift they may be. 2nd rate they definately ain't. Awesome.
Absolutely awesome mate! Still cant believe we have O`Neill like, knew he would be ace but never expected this! Gerrin!!!!
Gardener has a great shot on him he almost scored a superb strike against city. This is why I can't understand us looking at more midfielders? Were having trouble accommodating the ones we have already got. Defense should be the priority with a quality striker high on the list too. I like the midfield 3 of catts, Vaughan, Larson with Sess and McClean or Ricco supporting a lone striker.
Think the word is pure. Must have felt so nice coming off his foot when he striked it, bit like launching a 350 drive straight down the middle for us very poor golfers
Just think where we could be if MoN had been given the managers job in August. Im sure he would have brought in a forward & Gyan might not have ****ed off. OP The free kick was top class even Larsson would have applauded it
There is a vote on yahoo sports for best goal of the week, and one of the Mags have stuck the link on their board to try and get enough votes to overtake Gardner who is in the lead...
I just voted for Gardner - I've watched Larsson hit free-kicks like Cabaye's (Larsson's against Arsenal was much better than Cabaye's against Man Utd - as it had no wind assistance and was just a pure quality strike) Howards' was a fluke (and bad Goalkeeping at the other end IMO) - Cabaye's was an excellent goal but you see that sort of free kick - over the wall and in the top corner, all the time - you don't often see a shot hit with pure power into the top corner of the net which is why I believe Gardners' was a better free-kick
