The Union Rooms normally. I've never been to Shearers because it always looks absolutely heaving whenever I go past. Anywhere even remotely near the ground is too busy to be honest. Used to get Sports Bar tickets for the cup games too, about £5 more expensive but there's an actual chance of getting a beer at half time.

Quality pub. Been there since I was a proper wee lad, good atmosphere nice and friendly and you are guaranteed to get served. Love it.

I do the same unless it's a night match then sometimes I go to the bars in the Gate, also nipped into one before the Tottenham match.

Mate as a lad born in Brid I'm wise to all of theap methods of getting to the North East from that part of the world.
Get yourself on the Metro Centre coach with the grannies... Off at metro centre.... Metro to Toon and et Voila. Used to do that back in the day before I moved up and it was around 7 quid return.

A few of us used to meet at The Union Rooms every home game, but we haven't done for a while now, too much of a scamper after everybody got a round in.

It's the closest you'll get to a "proper" pub in the city centre.
I have to be honest though, I had some great afternoons in there, not nights. <cheers>

Newcastle Arms is the best ale in town, but it can get savagely busy, fortunately no away fans. Bodega is a good fall back, although beer is generally not as good.

Me and my dad go to the local round the corner in York, then get the train up but Dad works for railway so we get discounted tickets all the time which is quality, costing sometimes £5 to Newcastle and Tenner for London or where ever for away games. But next year, hopefully will be at uni in Newcastle so will have to find a local before every game providing i can still afford my season ticket with all the uni fees.

When I go to the game I usually go to Shearer's about an hour and a half before kick off.

Generally go to city vaults before the match because its 2 quid a pint and the atmosphere gets you right in the mood, then afterwards either the trent or madisons for trebles if its been a **** one.

Have you got a young persons rail card? If you come to a few games you'll start to save quite a bit. 17-25 year olds it is, so I'm going to get 1 a day before my 25th!
