Not for three single years. For three five-year periods. It's not calculated season-by-season in those data. It requires consistently good performances in all competitions over a long period of time. That shows that we were the best side. Other teams might have dropped out of the FA Cup and won the league or been crap in the league and won a cup, but we were all-rounders who were forced to play a game every two days at the end of most seasons and were cheated by refs left, right and centre. Again, if the best sides were calculated solely on silverware, Birmingham were better than Chelsea last season. We had a superb team in those days which was the envy of every other football club. And we can say that way more than you lot have been able to. You're better now, but how you can say we have no history is beyond me. No doubt you'll say we're living in the past now we've proven it beyond doubt.
According to them tables man united are the most "successful" team in the world for the last 5 years, which isnt true is it, maybe the most consistent, which is what the table is about, consistency not success

Barca play in a **** league so they rightly don't get awarded as many points as the best Premiership teams for beating Osasuna and Gijon.

The UEFA coefficient is all based on results in Europe. According to UEFA Utd were "better" than Barca last year because we drew away to Marseille and beat Schalke in both legs, whilst Barca lost away to Arsenal and drew at home with Real. I don't know the exact set of results in the 1970s, but Leeds would get a higher number of UEFA coefficient points for beating Rotor Transylvania in the UEFA Cup than Liverpool would get for drawing with Real Madrid in the European Cup. Hence the coefficient system is fundamentally flawed. It's like the FIFA World Rankings - England are apparently "better" than Brazil right now because when we qualify for the Euros we play Wales, Montenegro and Albania, whereas Brazil go straight into the Copa with Argentina, Uruguay and Mexico. Likewise in WC Qualifying we play a fair few **** teams which are essentially walkovers whilst Brazil play all of the top SA teams. Have to admit I didn't read 90% of the thread.
