Because many of them are young and are happy to go out on loan, I am bringing the number down bit by bit by selling a lot and bringing in less, there is about 10 who I am not offering new contracts to. With half being youth players it gives me a chance to find a top talent and I have had a few through there now, It don't cost me to much to do this as they have very low wages. I only have 36 players for first team and 6 of them are on loan which is real as Gillingham have that amount of players, just a large under 18 team and many reserves where there are many out on loan and there is a few who are fringe.
Giving my sub keeper his first league start, Jack Butland, had him all season and he plays all the cup games even if they are big, he is good, did not mean to start him, forgot to put my number 1 back in the team,. My number 1 is Alex McCarthy who I got from Reading he played half last season and all this season so far so had him a year.
2-0 up against Sheffield Wednesday at the moment, They have Chris Kirkland in goal, LOL he is well injury prone, I have started injury prone striker Sam Vokes for the first time after I signed him where they wanted to get rid of him as he was always injured could not play him for a month as he was injured and lets guess, 50 Minutes and he is injured.
Won 3-1, shame we had to concede late on, Sheffield Wednesday's players were a bit slow and that is amazing as it looked like they had brought in some good players, they are in the bottom three and you can see why. They had 2 injuries in that game which was good and also they were missing one of there best players who is on loan from me Chris Whelpdale. And to add to that Vokes is now out for 7-8 weeks, that is ****, only just got him maybe he was a bad signing but he is a good player.
Your not talking to me are you, Im in league 1 and I used a 4-3-1-2 formation and I am using that now.
I've played 12 seasons on my current unemployment challenge. I've gone from Droylsden, to Crewe, to Stoke, to Almeria and finally to Parma, and I have always stuck with 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. I start with the most basic formation, and over time I make tweaks to the instructions through trial and error. The custom 4-4-2 I'm using now is perfect for me and I'll very rarely use anything else. There's a pretty cool new feature which shows you in detail how much success you've had with every formation you've used. People love to be clever and make up weird formations, but it's best to stick to what works in real life, as this is a very realistic game. It's best to experiment with the team and player instructions rather than with the formation itself. It's all about micro-management.
Where is this new feature?? I personally, like you, dance between 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 with custom tactics - though my 4-4-2 is two CMs and two wide AMs (could be called 4-2-2-2) and my 4-5-1 is two CMs, two wide AMs and a central AM (4-2-3-1), I just like to think of them as 4-4-2 and 4-5-1. But yeah, there's never any need to go all out to find some funky tactic - one of my friends used to use a 5-5-0 which morphed into 3-4-4 whenever he had possession... needless to say it didn't come off well.
It's in Team Report I think.... My best formation seems to be 4-2-3-1, with a central AM and two wider players. My system only seems to work with a pacey front man though. I'd love to try and get Bielsa's 3-3-1-3 to work though
View Squad -> Team Report -> Tactic Analysis. The Goal Analysis feature looks good as well, but I haven't given it much of a try. I like to switch to the 4-2-2-2 in-game sometimes when I'm on overload. I did use the 4-2-3-1 briefly at Almeria, but I never really figured out the best player roles for it. My 4-5-1 is with a DM, 2 CMs and AMR and AML. It's a little unconventional because I like the lone striker to be a poacher and I play drill crosses, whereas most people would probably like the striker to be bigger and stronger. I once played a sort of 3-5-2 with Newport County which involved 3 DCs, WBL, WBR, 2 CMs, AMC and 2 STs. I had the wing-backs set to very attacking and it actually worked quite well, but I haven't been able to recreate it since. My mate once used a tactic without any strikers which worked quite well. It was basically a 4-6-0 with two DMs and 4 AMs. I think it worked because opposition defenders had no idea who they were supposed to be marking. That was on FM11 though I think.
Just got into the JPT final fielding a reserve side in all the rounds, I have played at most 2 to 3 of my normal first team. I got a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the south final and then went 1-0 down in the away leg at 20 minutes then at 60 minutes went 1-1 so 2-2 aggregate, then I brought on Baldock to play his first part of a game in three months since getting injured last year as he is lacking fitness and it will take a bit to ease him back with 30 minutes left we scored another goal to make it 1-2 with a header by centre back Matt Fry and then we made it 1-3 with 10 minutes left with a powerful goal by Baldock, I never thought I would get to the final as that is why I fielded the reserve team in the first round as I did not care about the cup and thought if I lose then it don't matter but if I win that is great and I have done that each round but now in the final that is great, do I play the first team now or reserves what do you think?
My impossible start to the season. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/684/madfixtures.png/ Why can't I just embed the image on here? It's really pissing me off.
Yeah the site makes the image small which is annoying, best bet is go to http://tinypic.com/ or some site to upload it.
