Usually when a club is very scarce of money, the club are very careful who they sign. Rangers did not seem to apply these simple very important guidelines during last summer's transfer window. I am not going to bore anyone listing all the players they signed on loans or on free or small fee contracts. Its unusual to sign as many as Rangers did without coming up with at least one bright star. Nobody that Rangers signed last summer has made any worthwhile impression on the SPL. At least 3 have already appeared to be nowhere near the SPL standard, which is not that high, especially when we take into account that SPL referees and assistants do all they can to help them settle in. I don't think sally knows a good player. He is not a good judge. Maybe he was away enjoying himself as Sue's wee toy bhoy sorry (boy) for too long. Before that he spent too long in the bad company in Belfast. His Belfast friends were not scouting for footballers. Thank God, I am not a Rangers fan, but if i was I would be afraid, very afraid.
The two big center halfs have done alright and Aloko seems to offer them something different. Gordon Strachan signed many duds but was still a successful manager. Rangers may well pull a rabbit out the hat yet they've done so in the past and will be trying to again but we just need to worry about our own squad, predicting what Rangers will do had stung us in the past. Or was that down to Refs and teams not trying?
Talking about spl refs letting player settle in , do you remember in Paul Elliott early days , I think he got booked 12/13 times in a row and it became a joke what he was going to get booked for next. Rangers thug elbows lost his appeal today , does it not cost a grand to appeal ?? Where did they get that from !! Has Whyte been robbing someones piggie bank??
Tom/cat I was hoping you were away with your "friend" Sammy. I thought Aluko only came a couple of weeks ago and did not pay his way during the last transfer window. It is not too difficult to pay centre half for Rangers with their 8 man defence. Sure grand dad Weir that was in the same class in school as Old Walter played on until last season. Now he is huffing he is not getting a game. It shows you what he, and you cannot deny is experienced, thinks of the 2 centre backs. Just to play devil's advocate for a moment, Lennon's signings haven't exactly been brilliant. The main thing now is that they are too skint to poach nayone from us.
