15th February 2011 Sebastian Vettel: "To have your name written among the names of the world champions is special, but having it in the list of the Ferrari drivers would be special too. Yes, it's my dream to race for Maranello one day." http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/89489 3rd March 2011 Mark Webber: "Driving those red cars has always held that romantic attractionââ¬Â¦" http://au.eurosport.com/formula1/webber-thinks-he'll-retire_sto2689833/story.shtml Helmut Marko won't be happy about this.
Helmut Marko wont be enjoying that, however even Lewis Hamilton has gone on record once saying that the Ferrari life would be a dream. I can see why too, the oldest team, the richest history, legendary names.... I want to drive for Ferrari now! Will have to phone Domenicali!
Hamilton considers Ferrari a dream? I've never heard anything like that before. I remember once he said that he was happy at McLaren and didn't need Ferrari for his career to be complete. Got a link?
I seem to recollect it being a few years ago he was asked a question about it and answered. May have got it completely wrong mind, as like I said, was a few years ago!
Of all the F1 drivers, Lewis Hamilton was the one individual who didn't have the Ferrari dream. I did a google search on "lewis hamilton ferrari dream" to see if I could find the link. See for yourself: http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=lewis hamilton ferrari dream
I've seen pictures of Jenson when he was young dressed in Ferrari gear. Lewis has always been Mclaren as far as I know.
Helmut Marko will be more worried about losing his little gem Sebastian, more than Webber who will probaly stay in Red bull or move to a midfield team before he retires. I think at one stage or another sebastian will leave for McLaren or Ferrari, most likely Ferrari. please log in to view this image
I think it's everyone's dream to drive at Mclaren or Ferrari. I think Hamilton chose Mclaren becuase of his hero; Aryton Senna. Even though Ferarri have been renowned for bending the rules very well and getting away with a lot, it would still be pretty cool to drive for Ferrari. If I was in F1, I would chose Ferrari over Mclaren, maybe, only becuase then I could go against Hamilton and Button!
I think a great driver needs to drive a Ferrari at least once in their F1 career, it would be like achieving the Tifosi trophy on career F1 2010 lol.
Why wouldn't they, it's one of the most great teams in the history of F1 and has been running since the beginning of the pinnacle of motorsport.....
Not everyone has a love affair with Ferrari. I've been watching F1 since the early 90's and never once supported them. I'm sure that's the same for several drivers. Putting it kindly they are morally dubious.
I think it used t be always Ferrari that drivers dreamed about, but since the Lauda/Prost/Senna era McLaren made itself a 'marquee' too. when i started Karting my ambition was to drive for McLaren, alas if only i'd had a bit of money... Never heard the Leis Ferrari quote before, but I know Senna wanted to end his career there.
I'd agree with Miggins, I definitely think Mclaren have a reputation nearly on a par with that of Ferrari now, Williams would too if they got back to winning ways.
Assuming these drivers were born around 1985-ish, their childhood obsession is likely to have been with McLaren and Williams. But of course Ferrari is still the biggest name in the sport and for a good few people their dream is to drive the red car.
