You asked who would take him, not where he wants to go ... which is nowhere.

I think Buck knows that he is on a good thing here. We are a good fit. There are not many teams outside the top six who play the way we do and, as has been pointed out, Buck might suffer another "Reading Experience" if he went elsewhere.

PL clubs are canny and, well as he is doing at the moment, Buck still has much to prove at this level. I suspect that potential suitors will be sitting tight to see where we finish in the league before making any decisions. Assuming that we survive, and my confidence is shooting up in leaps and bounds of late, the amount of interest in Buck will be directly related to our final position. Should we finish in the top half, expect the offers to come flooding in. And you know what? I reckon that Buck will stay nevertheless.

Why would Rodgers want to commit suicide! He wont be going to any team, any time soon, that I'll put money on, and you can shove the rumours where the sun don't shine, he's nobodies fool. Rodgers knows how hard it is to get some of these thick as a brick so called Pro's to play the right way, he tried it at Reading and failed miserably, now he's just landed on his feet, with a ready made dream team, that play the great game the way he's always wanted, so lighten up everyone, he's going nowhere anytime soon, and if you think it's easy to get these football pro's to play the right way, then go and ask Martinez too, why is he struggling, simply not going to happen, and even if it did, I would have every confidence in our board and Chairman Huw Jenkins bringing in the next coach in our upward development, so I'm not worried in the slightest!..................

Villa wanted Martinez then went and appointed someone who just relegated a team....I think the question is, Why wouldn't Villa want him?

With his team outplaying Villa at Villa Park, why wouldn't Villa be interested?

As for Chelsea, Brendan is highly regarded for the work he did there previously. Additionally, Abramovic's foreign managers have all failed - Mourinho included - to deliver the prize he wants most. Brendan is older than AVB, and also has more experience of English/British football than AVB. Brendan is also multi-lingual which clearly helps.

    A long shot ? Yes

    Laughable or amusing? No

Dragon- spot on comment fella ;)

Villa fans on call collymore, said they would love to have Brendan as manager and would also like to have dyer, im guessing that most villa fans would kill to replace mcleash with rodgers ! I know i would!

The key to all of this is weather we Are able to keep the team together,if we lose too many the manager Will see that as a lack of ambition.

I must repeat the quote rodgers Made few months ago when he said" as Long as the clubs ambition matches my own" its important we give the guy what he wants in terms of players, this Will be key to his own contract dealings, he is smart enough to know what our budgets Are and i Think he is happy enough working within that as Long as he doesnt Get short changed then i Think he Will be happy enough here for the NeXT few years ;)

Neil TaYlor to Arsenal. Is the latest rumour going around :(

outplaying a team for one match doesnt mean that aston villa would be interested in him, as for chelsea, yes brendan is highly regarded there as a youth coach i believe, that job is not going to come up for at least 3 years, by which time BR may have enhanced his reputation, but as it stands, it is indeed laughable to suggest that chelsea would take him if AVB was sacked tomorow,

    a long shot? yes

laughable or amusing? well it amused me, and if you posted it on the chelsea board they would also have a chuckle so yes.

yes, and i admit he's done a fantastic job, just that to be in contention for chelsea you have to have world and champions league pedigree, which very few coaches have..

You mean like AVB?! Football is going mad, and if AVB were to be sacked Brendan would definitely be in the frame. Young, successful, a history of a good footballing style and he has Chelsea connections already! Why wouldn't he be in the frame? AVB had only really had one "successful" season, and half a season where he kept an unfavourable team up.

As with everything in football hype increases prices and wages. Our lower valued players and Manager are in fact better than the a lot of the stuff you see in the Prem. Case in point - Carroll for £35M, Graham for £3.5M. Is he 10 times the better player? AVB is probably on a salary 5 times that of Rodgers yet he's nowhere near 5 times the manager.

Thing is, moneybags owners like Abramovic who I think has a lot more money than intelligence doesn't realise that so Rodgers won't be on their radar despite the connection.

On the subject of amusement I actually find it risible that the Cardiff manager is mentioned in the same breath as Rodgers. He's kept the team in a similar position to what they were over the last few seasons. Take them up and get mid-table in the Prem by next Christmas then you're talking. <whistle>

there was the porto connection, he won the europa league, i didnt agree with paying 15m euros for an unproven manager, i would have seen out ancelottis contract. however, to say rodgers would be in contention is ludicrous, these days alot of the foreign owners want foreign managers, wrongly IMO. i agree BR is on the way up but he's realistically 5 years away, i reckon AVB will be untouchable for the next 2 years due to the release fee, but thats a different story..

by the way, i believe AVB has done precious little to warrant a top job, abramovic does some crazy things, like appointing grant, now a 34 year old, you can tell this guy isnt a football man, he shouldnt meddle where he's not qualified in any way shape or form..
