Mmmm thinking cap on here, rather an odd, sad end to Locano, Mecca, Tiffany's, Peppermint Park, LA's if I remember right. The company that owned it ripped out the PA/Sound System and installed it in another club somewhere in another city, leaving just and empty shell of a building in Hull. Tower was never my thing, but going back even further, Bailey's was certainly my thing, a class club showing some class acts of that time, including one of my favourite's, Mud, when Les Gray was alive and well.

I know its a bit of a cliche these days about the 60's and 70's but Hull certainly was a great night out in those days with some cracking venues like Hofbrauhaus, don't think I managed 2 steins, Scamps was the nightclub upstairs. Even Hull City Hall put on some great gigs with local bands, pre disco though.

It would be brilliant if they could create a few bars and clubs down the street where Fruit is. It's just a bit out of the way from everywhere though. It would make a brilliant little place to have gigs and would appeal to the alternative music crowd/students/arty people. The nightlife in Hull really is shocking! Pozition and Sugar Mill are just awful places. Welly lacks any sort of air con. I could go on.....

    What was I thinking?

There is only one contender for the crown of King of Clubs.

    Telstar, Branny Cener.

    FACT.

Priya still does her thing there Friday nights I think.

She's had the same playlist for about 6 years.

Used to like Piper, don't know why as it's a smelly dive with over eager bouncers.

I used to go Spiders a lot, but once you're over 22 it's probably some kind of crime to hang about in there, they're properly young in there.

Forgot about Piper. We do the same set of pubs as you whenever we go down there. Probably the best Indie/ Alternative night in Hull now and Priya is still doing her regular DJ set. Always get less aggro there than i do in Welly.

Been going to Pozition and Old Town alot recently. Went there before christmas and for New Years. Alot of my mates used to go to the younger nights there so it's quite popular with alot of us.

Went to the Sugarmill opening night a few years ago and been back 3-4 times since. Not really a massive fan of the place.

I didn't start drinking til I was 19, and even at that stage I felt too old to go to Spiders.

I once asked Priya to play Primal Scream and Pulp - Babies and quite obviously they never got an airing even though they're very familar. Very predicatble playlist which she should be a bit more flexible with. A couple of years ago I got spiked in Piper and I've only been in once since.

Good to hear Piper still good on a friday, I was sure Priya had left, used to work with her back in the day. Have to agree with the comments about Pozition, used to end up there worse for wear quite a lot and found it really soulless with bad beer but to be fair was saturday usually and I heard other nights were a bit better.
