thats my number 1 choice. a few people - ****heads - at work say get real. i reminded them that aidy boothroyd who was a prem manager and championship manager who won promotion to the prem, now manages northampton who are rock bottom. if they can get boothroyd, why cant we get o'driscoll. i think he would suit us and we him. johnson i think will get it though. lives in bristol, wants to be back in management, just praised the gasheads on points west and is also a free agent so wont cost anything. oh and he didnt deny being interested in the job.
Preston want him I think so no chance, don't want him anyway, IMO we need a manager with experience and good contacts within the game.
Not sure, Sean O'Driscoll is very good manager but I wouldn't want the poor bloke to come here and mess his career up, Gary Johnson wouldn't mind him but if he has a few bad results then we will all be on his back. Paul Ince has a good record in Division 2 but not alot of fans seem to like the idea of him taking over. It's a hard one and don't envy Higgs having to find the right man for the job the board need to take there time on it so maybe just appoint a temp manger until the end of the season so i would say either Peter Reid or Russell Osman (who was at the crewe game in the directors box on saturday) for the time being.
whoever it is, needs to be the right man this time. rome not built in a dat so he needs time to change the attitude of players, install belief and tactics etc. it will get worse before it gets better but knowing buckle is gone makes it easier
hi chris welcome back and no more banter. i agree peter reid has a wise old head but i suspect higgs will go for more experience or even a player manager. i wish the gas all the best and it would give me pleasure to see the gas storming the league again sometime soon, of course after dispatching villa. good luck an utterly banter free zone proud to be a tinpot
but kenny jacket is out the job I've heard, thanks to their loss tonight (I wonder who to) could snatch him up
I think that the Board will ask advice from Osman. Don't forget what he did for us the last time we looking at the abyss. So Osman or probably Johnson; but I wouldn't say no to Reid
I really don't think SOD would go to you lot. Sorry. Big Fat Gary would do a good job with you if you give him time and let him get on with the Napoleon act...
Go get Derek McInnes, he will get the Gas playing football & winning games.............only joking of course..got to be Gary Johnson!!
Garry Johnson could do a very good job for you. Honest man, lots of contacts, good manager at this level, not afraid to say it as it is, loves to interact with the fans. Since leaving us he has had a bit of a mixed time but he is still a quality manager. The biggest problem is you are losing so many games at the moment and all your confidence has gone from the team. Any manager coming in will need a few games to settle the ship, I doubt if a quick fix is around the corner. The unfortunate thing is I doubt if Gas fans will be prepared to give Johnson a few games to turn it around. You would almost certainly turn on him if results don't improve quickly which is a shame as given time he will rebuild confidence and make things fun again. I liked him as a City manager, he came to us when we were in a very similar position to you but did not get a win for several matches and the fans started to turn on him. We all know what happened in the years that followed and he very nearly pulled off the impossible dream . The Gas won't go down, there are teams below who are worse than you are but you may have a squeaky bum for a few months. Give Johnson the job, he will steady the ship, avoid relegation then give you something to build upon for next year.
as SOD is favourites for the job, i think the bookies know something we dont or you dont then again the bookies had us 2nd favourites to win the league! look what happened there
"it will get worse before it gets better" If GJ gets the job I honestly don't think your fanbase would allow him that courtesy, he started with 9 games without a win for us! His previous history would not allow him the time required!
After the debacle of the past year and the deep disappointment of Buckle's ill-fated tenure, I think that Gasheads will probably give anyone a fair crack of the whip. Short of relegation, it can't get much worse.
