Not really a surprise as whether he connected with his 'head-butt' or not the intent was still there. The only real surprise if you ask me is that the ban wasn't increased for time wasting.... http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/129184.html?CMP=OTC-RSS OTBC
i do think it was a waste of time, but i don't think it was worthy of another game, even if it was frivolous. he missed two thirds of the match anyway
Fair, was a stupid appeal. NW just appealed to justify all his mouthing off, I wonder if he's going to get in trouble his RVP comments were close to libellous.
If they did rescind it they would have had to charge your guy and that would mean they would have to work tooooooooooo hard. Simpler just to let it stand. After all the buffoons at the FA can't be seen to get anything right can they? Might set a precedent!!!
what a ridiculous post without wishing to get involved in this again, there was no way the fa could rescind that red card. your gripe, understandable as it is, is with the officials who gave a decision without seemingly seeing it. you might even have a gripe with johnson for exaggerating the contact. however, nobody can say it wasn't a red card offence. it doesn't matter how little contact there was - he still did it! ffs
Finally, can we all put this sorry mess behind us now? But I can't remember the FA work this fast, ever before. Needless to say their minds where already made up. On the positive side though, their quick response means he'll miss the FA cup and only two league games.
The FA probably wanted to flex their muscles especially as we made them look like mugs last year with the Faurlin saga.
Just perused all the posts on NewsNow about the dismissed appeal and chose the one from the FA thinking that would be the most informative! http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Discipli...joey-barton-qpr-claim-dismissed-january-2012? Now I know why we use the term FA to mean **** all!
It would be nice to move on as even though it was a contentious issue, seeing grown men (I assume) throwing insults at each other was getting a little embarrassing. Probably would have been best not to put this thread on both boards though. We have our own thread where we can all moan about the injustice and you guys could have had this one to yourselves to comment on how sensible the FA have been. Good luck for the rest of the season, personally I think if we get the right players in the transfer window we'll be challenging you for a well deserved mid table finish.
If Norwich is the best city in the world what say for the world. I have seen the incident many times and can only say that if the FA decided that Barton showede intent then why did johnmoan hold his face the oscars are given out next month I think!!. Anyway lets hope that the bottom 3 go down this season the fact that Barton will miss 3 games might be a godsend to us eh?.
Ridiculous. Johnson had the same intent, they went head to head, no more than that. A red card was totally undeserved.
Barton moved his head towards Johnson, not the other way around. The intent was there, intent is serious enough. For Barton to call the FA hypocrites is quite frankly laughable after what he did to Gervinho. Barton has a bad rep, if he had more than two brain cells he would realise that he's better off avoiding these kind of confrontations. But then it's a lack of brain cells that led to him having such a bad rep. He thinks with his fists. He's a pretty damn good football player though so I understand why QPR were desperate to get the red card rescinded. I have to admit that Johnson is not a complete saint either!
