Having just watched the citeh v looserpool match, although it wasn't a great performance by the away team, I cannot think of a more ineffective performance in a red shirt, than Andy Carol . What an absolute waste of money !
I was about to say the same thing - always on his heels, never ready to make a move, just waiting for the ball. It was nice of the ref to notice and even up the sides by sending Barry off.
Andy Carroll is the biggest waste of money in football history and with the money "king" Kenny has invested i think even us united fans expected more from them.
Dowing and Carrol both fail in the red shirt of pool. But try telling that to Dipper fans. King Kenny will not be allowed near a cheque book again
Alexis Sanchez + Augero = £65m, Downing + Carroll £55m(plus add ons, although its extremely unlikely that they will have to pay them)
Funny considering you concede 6 on your own turf to the same team. A lot of lfc based threads on the manc board as usual, not surprised but can you lot do anything but bitter other clubs 24/7, pathetic but what ever gets you low brow losers off. Mandy was absolutely awful, but so was your entire back line against City at the swamp? I don't mind pickng the bones on a dreadful performance by some of Liverpools players just not the childish **** like this thread, am sure you probably think Liverpool threw the game to get at United, ye've been spouting that nonsense before I think Downing, I cannot understand why he cannot cross a ball to Carroll, Johnson the same, both found themselves in very good crossing positions all night but failed miserably. It was not a good night but we conceded 3 at City, played well final third apart and pretty much palyed better than ye did against Blackburn. Reina made a mistake, he's allowed a few, ye of all know about that kind of thing, the second was similar to De Gea not being helped out with a player getting almost a free header 5 yards out, and te third, never ever a penalty. Carroll got 3 good crosses to him in the last 180 minutes of football, he gots 0 delivery and his confidence is shot for sure. He also doesn't look fit even, doesn't work hard and chase down the ball, that was my biggest annoyance with him yesterda, lethargic is looked.
This is true, but then for our back line it was a one off game - even having conceded six against City and been ravaged by injury all season we've only conceded one more goal than City overall. Mandy on the other hand has had more bad games than good this season, by quite some way. His goalscoring record is now almost as bad as Diego Forlan's was...and like you say it's being reflected his attitude, fitness and confidence levels.
I'm sure Carroll will improve. Dalglish may tweak the tactics or formation to get the best from him or perhaps he just needs a confidence boost. I would say though, that when you pay £35m, you should expect a level of quality from a player right from the start. That price bracket is reserved for very top players who are expected to deliver results.
I think I can safely say 35m was 15m at least too much for Andy but I can also say this is very old news. @Swarbs, Iggy my pop at the 1 6, it was in reply to a lot of nonsense above tbh matey though I had a feeling that YOU might pick up on it as ever vigilant as fk Injuries though, team sport matey United have a big squad, not a valid excuse the way I see it, Liverpool didn't play all that badly, some errors cost us, mainly the first goal, the second was poor defending as Toure didn't have to work a lot to win the ball, Johnsons challenge was non existant, I mean how hard is it to stand between te attacker and the goal and NOT behind the forward!?!
I'm not buying the poor service argument either - if your striker is immobile, then the delivery has to be inch perfect. It's little wonder the rest of the team become more reluctant to put the ball in the box when they get so little success from it. It's the crosser's job to anticipate where the striker might go and put the ball into good areas, and the striker's job to make good runs and be ready to change his movement to where the ball is actually going - Carroll isn't doing either.
Want a bet on that, eat? Being a "dipper" as opposed to a skiplifter, I'm near the end of my tether with Downing. Carroll has age on his side and actually played quite well against Newcastle. Downing f..ked up a golden opportunity last night before citeh scored.
He wasn't doing that at Newcastle? The guy could do a lot more than that, he was powerful, decent on the ball and a great finisher. After his performance against Liverpool, think Newcastle won 3-1 last season, I really thought Carroll would become an England regular. I think he is better than people think but the price he went for doesn't help, not that he had anything to do with it. Probably.
