Alan Pardew is reported in the Chronicle as making the following comment:-

"It will be difficult for anybody agreeing a price with my board"

That could be interpreted in a number of ways. What do you think he is getting at? Preparing us for more transfer disappointment, or having a little dig at Ashley and LLambiarse?

Is that referring to outgoing or incoming?

I think he's talking about outgoing players.

The board will over value the players they want to keep but it does state that offers are ready to be evaluated and if they match the inflated price a deal can be done.

Dont think it makes him a nob - every player has there price, and if people are chucking 35m around you cant blame him for taking it.

Man United won't offer stupid money, they rarely do in January so I think Tiote will be around til the summer. I can't see anyone else wanting/needing him. That just leaves Ba, who we bought on a free and if MA got offered £20 mil + for him you really could not blame him for selling

In what sense does an owner become a 'nob' for selling players for way over their actual estimate?

Right now, we're looking terrible for getting rid of Duff, Martins, Viduka, Nolan, Barton, Carroll, Enrique, etc. We're languish- oh, wait. No we're not.

Credit where credit's due, we've looked a better side after every transfer window under the fat controller since relegation, with the possible - and, in my view, by no means certain - exception of last January.

We do find replacements though, they are normally cheap players but they are also normally well suited to our team, as well as young. I'd rather we didn't spend mad money on average players like in the days of FFS, and be in huge debts meaning we are forced to sell players to help the debt. Currently we are in a great position in the league and financially so if anyone comes in for our players we can force them high.

Why the hell are we having the same conversation every bloody transfer window.

He is not building himself I nice little nest egg, it is more likely the club are repaying some of the money he ploughed into the club out of his own pocket and is an interest free loan.

Eventually the club will be self sufficient and will own nobody.

As for selling players, if other clubs are prepared to be screwed over and pay stupid money then fine. As someone has said every player has their price, like it or not football is now a business. And as for not spending what do you think we did last summer, fair enough they are big dafy sums of cash but there is still some spending there.

I'm not Ashley's biggest fan, but he HAS improved the team and the club as a whole.

Meaning we charge lots for our players yet expect other clubs to sell us theirs on the cheap.

I'm happy for the club to become self-sufficient, but less so at the prospect of owning nobody!!
