And trying to rejuvenate him alongside Suarez... rather than buying Carroll and Downing with the FT cash. Where do you think you would be placed this season with Suarez and a revitalised FT up front?
No because he didn't want to be there. Our team moral suffered badly because of him sulking before he left. Never keep a player who doesn't want to be there. Plus he fell out with Carragher and Gerrard. Only one winner there. Plus we got 50 million for him. - Would I want a Torres of 3 years ago banging them in? Yes. Be he is no longer that player in both mind and ability.
Nice hypothetical question Dunno about you but I can't see things that aren't there to see. All I know is Torres and Carroll are both ****e, so either way it wouldn't really matter.
Better off keeping Torres - NO Better off not spending 35mil on Carrol - YES At the moment the price for Carrol looks like we got a right royal shafting! The consolation when we got him was that he had been great for Newcastle and that he may possibly even improve on that. With his age we would have him for many years, all this was dependent on him continuing the same level or improving. I remember rumours before he left of Spurs considering an 18mil offer so we definately overpaid there, I still cannot fathom why we rushed in to buying a replacement for Torres when that replacement was injured!! I know there was the whole 'we will pay you 15mil extra than your target' from Chelsea but it never made sense then and makes less sense now! Lets hope he comes good, he actually was slightly better against City with some good knockdowns but his movement and ability to find space is shockingly bad at the moment.
10 year contracts I guess that means that we'll keep our best players instead of being a feeder club to City or Barca!
What theese stupid chavs that come onto our board seem to forget is we sold a lot of player's and only really spent £30million net and trimmed the wage bill.
