It wasn't a very long honeymoon period... but I remember on Keegan's return a few years ago when we trounced Stoke 4-1 in the Cup with 10 men. Kick-off had to be moved forward 15 minutes because of the thousands queuing to get tickets from the box office! Great atmosphere that night. I'm sure the Mackems are feeling the same sense of optimism as we felt back then.

Then we drew 0-0 with Bolton and Jlloyd Samuel nearly nicked it for them haha

    Wigan 1-4 Sunderland
    Sunderland 1-0 Man City
    Sunderland 1-1 Everton
    QPR 2-3 Sunderland
    Tottenham 1-0 Sunderland
    Sunderland 2-1 Blackburn
    Wolverhampton 2-1 Sunderland
    Sunderland 1-2 Wigan

That's an easy 15 points over 24 ... Think that your season won't get any better believe me ...

Haha I remember that as well!

Then we beat Spurs away 4-1 and went on a 5 match unbeaten run... then we nicked a draw away to Man U on the first game of the new season!

If KK had stayed longer the second time who knows where we would have gone... :( At least we have Pards now though :)

Haha, probs would have got into Europe lol. He got the confidence out of players.

But, then again Owen, Duff and cock munchers like that would probably have stayed

No away game's easy in this league. It's that attitude that saw City lose a game they really should have won this weekend by picking a weakened team.

What I just wanted to point out is that you won't get relegated but a Top 10 finish is a big ask ...

Aye but look at the other teams man, Spurs, City and Everton are very good teams.

We would be creaming with a run that the mackems are on, and we were at the start of the season.

Fair play to them, O'neill has sorted them out and IMO they will continue to improve under him, he will be backed with funds aswell, as every Sunderland manager usually is.

Fair play. After the start we had I'd be happy enough with 12th or something myself... Lot's of football to be played yet and I for one won't be predicting anything.

Yeah but it's not fair that some teams play Wigan twice in 2 months while others play ManU twice in 8 matches ... <steam>

Said all along, even under Bruce, you'd be there or thereabouts for a top 10 finish along with us. Many on your board disagreed with me at the time, when you were all depressed during the Bruce reign <laugh> But still.

More important things at hand here guys. Lets trend #TashComeHome on twitter.

You can't include games where O'Neill wasn't manager mate, or else we could just find 24 easy points from the whole season and say "look, O'Neill really isnt all that!" <doh>

Hahaha I missed that. Good point mate. Don't tar O'Neill with Bruce's pork pie stained brush.
