    Lads,
I used to go to Uni in Hull (Cott Rd) and remember that there was a club called the Tower near the station. It was always crawling with totty back in the early 90's.

Is it still going?.... And is LA's still there?

Tower is reopening as Tokyo's, at least that was the plan a few months ago, it seems to have all gone quiet on that front.

LA's closed down, the building got knocked down, but it's (sort of) reopened just off Witham. I've never been and never intend to, so I couldn't tell you what it's like.

That struck me as weird when I heard about it, it couldn't do the business to keep itself open when it was in the town centre right near the bus station for people coming into town later in the night, and yet someone chose to recreate it elsewhere. Was there something dodgy about the closing, or the reopening, or am I the only one that thinks beyond an initial nostalgic boost to trade it's not good to open as a failed establishment?

    Crawling with totty?

You may regret that comment my friend.
The word most associated with the females who frequented Tower was probably slapper at best, slag at worst.

It was no place for the faint hearted and yes I did go a couple of times.

It says a lot when Henrys was preferred over Tower but it was for me.

Now Henrys is a different story all together......

I think it's aiming at the nostalgia market, with it being down Witham and all, the average age must be 40-50 on a weekend down there. No idea what happened the first time around, before my time!

Oh right, that might be slightly better for them then. I'm not good with naming areas of Hull for nights out so I couldn't even tell you where Witham is never mind who I'd expect to find there.

I don't remember going in LAs, just remember it seemed to be empty for ages before it was knocked down so couldn't see it being a dodgy building and assumed it must be business reasons.

Was passing the LA's site the other day, just empty space, a bit sad in a way as I had many good nights there over the years even if it was a bit of a cheesy dive. Remember going to Skool Daze once, started drinking 12 in the afternoon and went straight to work after for a 5.30 am start, the things you do when you're a kid the very idea makes me feel ill now!

hasnt tower closed and reopened about 3 times in the last few years, i had a great night in there about 18 months ago, watching a stone roses tribute band, it was pretty full, but then think it shut again a few weeks later,...

And it's that busy even with the people going in just to see what it's like in a nostalgic visit. Can't wait for the novelty to wear off. ;)

That's just wrong, you can only get away with the school uniform = sexy thing with young women where you can have that suspension of disbelief about them not being in final year. If what TWF is saying about the age of the people they're likely to be aiming themselves at is true you'd be stretching it for them to even pass themselves off as the sexy teacher.

i think the aim is to probably drag younger people across there, and it doesnt appear to be working, trouble is with any nightclub, people dont need to pay anymore to stay out till 2-3 am, as there are so many late bars.

pmsl if the idea is to drag youngsters across then using the LAs branding is even worse than I thought. Drag the youngsters across by naming your new nightclub after a place none of the youngsters will remember (I'm going 25+ = old in this situation) other than as somewhere their parents used to go. Next step is to open a milk bar.
